By using a thermal gravimetric balance reactor and a temperature programmed reaction technique. it was found that carbon deposition on cerium oxide-containing nickel catalysts was decreased in both the induction and the constant carbon growth periods. Meanwhile the catalysts maintained activity the steam reforming reaction. Based on this and our previous research a model tbr the prom(Iing e: P'. of cerium oxide is proposed.
