a2-inch cathode-ray projection tube which consist of newly developed monocrystalline luminescent sceen < Ce:Tb:(Lu,Y)3(Ga,Al)5O12 >with emission in blue band has reached the maximum luminance of 2,300 cd/m2 with luminescence efficiency of 0.5 lm/w in a raster of 10 cm2 at excitation of a 25 kv,1mA electron beam, while the tube has a half-intensity linewidth of 34 μm that is equivalent to 2,000 clearly resolved lines, which means it a ideal device developed for high luminance, high resolution displays . In this paper, the preparation process of this novel single-cystal screen has been described in detail, some factors that influence energy conversion efficiency and colour of luminescence have been discussed, interesting conclusions are presented.
