| Abstract:Degradation prediction is important for safety related products to avoid failures. When the degradations of multiple parameters of a product is taken into account, Mahalanobis distance is proposed, to combine multiple parameters into one unified index. Then healthy baselines of the product are determined based on the unified index. Finally, the method of Relevance Vector Machines is applied to predict the change trend of the unified index and find the failure moment. A case study is presented to prove the validity of our proposed method. | |||

| Abstract:Motivated by unbalanced demand for healthcare services at the General Hospitals (GH) and the Community Healthcare Centers (CHC) in a hierarchical healthcare system, we study a problem of optimally allocating specialist healthcare resources in the GH for two classes of patients. Adopting a finite-horizon dynamic programming approach, we derive the optimal booking limits policy to inform the resource allocation strategy between early low priority patients and potential future higher priority patients. Through numerical analysis and a case study, we show that the booking limits policy outperforms two widely used allocation policies, especially when the system is subject to high demand. | |||

| Abstract:This study examines China's influence in the Asia-Pacific stock markets by focusing on spillover effects and market integration. This study employs the generalized vector autoregressive framework to examine spillover effects among the main Asia-Pacific stock markets. The multi-factor R-squared measure is employed to examine the market integration of Chinese stock market. The results indicate that spillover effects and market integration tend to increase and financial crises and the ongoing financial liberalization of China have strengthened spillover effects and market integration. | |||

| Abstract:Business incubators and venture capital are effective instruments for supporting the development of new firms. The purpose of this paper is to explore cooperation mechanisms between business incubators and venture capitalists and find the equilibriums of the mechanisms. In this paper, we put forward three mechanisms, revenue sharing mechanism, cost sharing mechanism and knowledge sharing mechanism, to discuss the cooperation between business incubators and venture capitalists. Meanwhile, we consider the effect of the business incubator's altruism and compare the three cooperation mechanisms with and without altruism. The results indicate that the incubator's revenue sharing proportion under the revenue sharing mechanism is higher than the proportion under the other two mechanisms. Additionally, the incubator's revenue sharing proportion decreases while its final profit increases when considering altruism. Therefore, the nonprofit incubator can be better for cooperating with the venture capitalist than the profit incubator. Finally, financial returns can impact their cooperation. | |||

| Abstract:This study examines the success of in-feed advertisements on social media. As social media is growing in popularity, advertisers have increased their spending on these media. Out of various forms of advertising in-feed advertising has been especially successful in generating click-through rates and comments as compared to other forms of advertising, such as banner ads, pop-up ads. This study builds a comprehensive theoretical model to explain the effects of consistency and sociability on in-feed advertising perceptions and avoidance in case of social media users. We find that consistency helps to minimize both perceived goal impediment and perceived ad clutter. However, this influence is insignificant among telic users. Perceived sociability is found to mitigate users' perceptions of in-feed ads as interruptions (clutter and impediments) as well as avoidance of in-feed ads. Implication for research and theory are presented. | |||

| Abstract:Mobile appstores have fast sprung up during last few years. The large number of apps in these appstores results in increased search effort for the customer as well as fierce competition leading to poorer revenues for both appstores as well as developers. Therefore, appstores allow developers to resort to bundling apps so as to increase the revenues and improve customerloyalty. Since an app-bundle is a mix of two or more apps, it may induce both positive and negative emotions simultaneously in the consumer. Therefore, in this study, we evaluate this app bundling strategy using ambivalence theories. This study makes three key contributions to theory and practice. First, this study identifies the specific attributes of app-bundles using exploratory study. Second, this study addresses the challenges involved in examining bundles using ambivalence theory. In doing so, it characterizes attitude as positive and negative and treats them as separate constructs. Third, as called forth by previous studies, this study establishes the co-existence of positive attitude and negative attitude. The implications for research and practice are discussed. | |||

| Abstract:Making decisions are in need of methodological and/or computational support under various environments. The hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets (HFLTSs) are widely used to manage such an environment where the experts are hesitant between several possible linguistic values. The aim of this paper is to present a new TOPSIS method to solve multiple attribute group decision making (MAGDM) problems with hesitant fuzzy linguistic information. The concept of possibility distribution for an HFLTS is introduced which provides a way to express the additional information contained in an HFLTS. The hesitant fuzzy linguistic weighted average (HFLWA) operator is given to aggregate individual preferences into group preferences. Due to the fact that both comparisons and distance measures over preference format play critical roles in the TOPSIS method, new definitions for comparison method and distance measure between two HFLTSs are presented. Further, a procedure of the new TOPSIS for HFLTSs is proposed in detail and a framework for MAGDM based on the TOPSIS method is presented. Finally, an example of supplier selection is shown to highlight how the proposed approach works in practice. | |||

| Abstract:Innovation activities of end user change the traditional paradigms of production innovation in the market. Many studies have shown that consumers themselves can undertake the entire innovation process with the help of innovation toolkits. This study examined the antecedents of members' continuance intention to innovate in the context of online game community. Based on user innovation theory and social interaction theory, we proposed a theoretical research model for empirical analysis. The results of our survey of 336 innovators of online game community, DOTA2 steam workshop, report that trend leadership considered as a characteristic of user innovator and expected benefit, enjoyment and reputation, have significant positive effect on continuance intention to innovate. Three specific dimensions based on social interaction, commitment, reciprocity and feedback are also the important drivers of continuance innovation behavior. Our results also show that two main functions of innovation toolkits, exploration and ease of effort, play a moderator role in the model. Specifically, the function of exploration positively moderates the effects of expected reputation, commitment and reciprocity on continuance intention to innovate. The function of ease of effort positively moderates the effects of trend leadership, expected enjoyment and feedback on continuance intention to innovate. | |||

| Abstract:Class imbalance presents significant challenges to customer churn prediction. Many data-level sampling solutions have been developed to deal with this issue. In this paper, we comprehensively compare the performance of several state-of-the-art sampling techniques in the context of churn prediction. A recently developed maximum profit criterion is used as one of the main performance measures to offer more insights from the perspective of cost-benefit. The experimental results show that the impact of sampling methods depends on the used evaluation metric and that the impact pattern is interrelated with the classifiers. An in-depth exploration of the reaction patterns is conducted and suitable sampling strategies are recommended for each situation. Our findings will offer a useful guideline for the use of sampling methods in the context of churn prediction.. | |||

| Abstract:Dealing with class imbalance is a challenging issue in churn prediction. Although resampling-based ensemble solutions have demon- strated their superiority in many ?elds, previous research shows that they cannot does improve the pro?t-based measure in churn prediction. In this paper, we explore the relationship between the class ratio in the training subsets and the predictive performance of resampling-based en- semble techniques based on experiments on real-world churn prediction data sets. The experimental results show that the setting of the class ratio has a great impact on the model performance. It is also found that by choosing suitable class ratios in the training subsets, UnderBagging and Balanced Random Forests can signi?cantly improve pro?ts brought by the churn prediction model. The demonstrated results provide some guidelines for both academic and industrial practitioners. | |||
