面向处理器硬件设计功能验证的仿真原型VMSIM

摘要:仿真原型在处理器设计流程中主要用于体系结构的性能评价、硬件设计的功能验证和软件设计的仿真调试。目前,现有可用的各种仿真原型主要面向体系结构的性能评价或软件设计的仿真调试,而面向硬件设计功能验证的仿真原型数量很少且难以获得授权。本文结合龙腾系列处理器的开发实践,提出了面向硬件设计功能验证的仿真原型VMSIM。VMSIM通过多种技术对面向体系结构性能评价或软件设计仿真调试的仿真原型进行封装,使之适合硬件设计的功能验证,可以对VHDL/Verilog编码的处理器硬件设计进行功能验证。本文描述了VMSIM的整体结构和内部组成,并给出了使用VMSIM对龙腾系列处理器进行功能验证的仿真结果。

Simulation Prototype for Functional Verification of Processor’ Hardware Implementation
Abstract:During the whole design flow of microprocessors, simulation prototypes can be used for performance evaluation of computer architecture, functional verification of hardware implementation, and debugging of software design. At present, a variety of existing simulation prototypes for performance evaluation or software design is available. However, few simulation prototypes support functional verification of hardware implementation. This paper presents a new simulation prototype VMSIM, which is designed for functional verification of processor hardware implementation. VMSIM wraps current available simulation prototypes and makes them suitable for function verification. This paper describes the overall composition and internal structure of VMSIM and presents simulation results in Longteng series processors’ design.
