Investigations of Locust Oedaleus infernalis Saussure (Orthoptera: Acrididae) Sliding Behaviors on Slippery Trapping Plates Based on Photoelectric Stimulation Inducement
首发时间:2009-02-25
Abstract:Influence of slippery trapping plates with different surface roughness, stiffness or slanting angles and photoelectric stimulation with different spectrum, illumination or pulse frequency on sliding behaviors of locust Oedaleus infernalis Saussure (Orthoptera: Acrididae) was investigated in this paper. To obtain information about sliding behaviors and slippery ratio of locust on the plates, CCD video monitoring system was adapted to record creeping course of locust and save corresponding images. Both considerable sliding behaviors and distinctive slippery ratio were shown when locusts crept on zinc plate with the minimum slanting angle of 40°, because of the appropriate surface characteristic and material property. Photoelectric stimulation with peak wavelength of 460 , pulse frequency of 2.0 ,or appropriate illumination could inspire the bio-photoelectric effect of locust and enhance its moving activity much more obviously, which of it can reduce contact area between locust and plates, and the friction force was weakened evidently, therefore much more distinctive slippery ratio and obvious sliding behaviors were presented. These results supply a suitable theoretical foundation for manufacturing insect slippery trapping plates and trapping units used in photoelectric inducement slippery trapping to control swarm locusts and other agriculture pests, as well as indicate an important role of photoelectric stimulating factors in biotribology.
