一种基于人类视觉系统特性的块效应评价算法

摘要:基于块离散余弦变换(Block Discrete Cosine Transform)的图像压缩主要缺点是在低比特率时其解码后图像的块边界上会出现明显的块效应,降低了图像的视觉质量。为了使块效应的评价结果更符合人类的主观感受,本文提出了一种基于人类视觉系统(Human Visual System)特性的块效应评价算法。该算法计算了块边界的亮度差,然后根据人眼的掩盖性定义了一个块效应的可见度函数,最后利用韦伯-费克内定律计算了人眼的非线性对块效应评价结果的影响。实验结果表明该算法能正确有效的对块效应进行评价。

A Blocking Artifact Assessment Based On HVS
Abstract:BDCT based encoding scheme gives rise to blocking artifacts in video compression. In order to make the assessing result consists with human sense, an assessment method for blocking artifacts is proposed, which based on characteristics of Human Visual System (HVS). The method calculates the difference between two adjacent blocks, and then defines a visibility function according to human eye’s masking. Finally using Weber-Fechner Law, the method calculates the impact of nonlinearity on the assessment. Experiment results verify the performance of the proposed method.
