Mechanical Behaviors of UHMWPE Composites Filled with Basalt Fibers

Abstract:Filling modification is an important method to improve the performance of UHMWPE. In this article, the basalt fibers were used to fill the UHMWPE because of their outstanding mechanical performance. In order to maintain the UHMWPE's excellent impact toughness, the UHMWPE composites with the filler content of 5 wt.%-20 wt.% were prepared. Then some of the mechanical performances of the composites were tested. The results indicated that the impact strength of UHMWPE composites was significantly decreased as the weight percentage of the basalt fibers was increased. The strength, hardness and creep resistance of the UHMWPE composites were all increased in a large degree with the increase of the content of basalt fibers. So, with the content of basalt fibers, some of the mechanical performances of the UHMWPE composites were excellently improved.

玄武岩纤维填充超高分子量聚乙烯复合材料的力学性能研究
摘要:填充改性是改善超高分子量聚乙烯性能的重要方法,因玄武岩纤维具有优异的力学性能,本文采用玄武岩纤维对超高分子量聚乙烯进行填充改性研究:首先制备了超高分子量聚乙烯复合材料,为了保持超高分子量聚乙烯良好的耐冲击性能,填充量为5%-20%。然后测试了其部分力学性能。研究结果表明,玄武岩纤维明显降低了超高分子量聚乙烯的冲击韧性,但是有效的提高了超高分子量聚乙烯的强度、硬度和耐蠕变性能。因此,玄武岩纤维的加入使超高分子量聚乙烯的综合力学性能得到了很好的改善。
