LIGO S5对残余引力波的限制

摘要:由于LIGO探测器已经达到了其设计灵敏度,其最新的S5数据可以用来实现对于残余引力波的限制。残余引力波产生于暴涨期间,其解析谱对初始条件极为敏感,而初始条件主要由指数 、跑动谱指数 和张量-标量比 来描述。利用LIGO S5的两台探测器数据的交叉关联,我们得到了对参数 的限制。其中一个主要结果,利用LIGO给定的一对探测器的交叉关联,我们计算出对于不同的参数 情况下的残余引力波的信噪比值。同时,还得到了大爆炸核合成以及微波背景辐射对残余引力波能量密度的间接限制,结果显示这仍比LIGO S5的限制更严格。

relic gravitational waves constrained by LIGO S5
Abstract:Using the S5 strain data of LIGO that has achieved its design sensitivity, constraints on the relic gravitational waves (RGWs) become realistic. The analytical spectrum of RGWs depends sensitively on the initial condition during inflation, which is generically described by the index , the running index , and the tensor-to-scalar ratio . By the LIGO S5 data of the cross-correlated two detectors, we obtain constraints on the parameters . As a main result, we have computed the theoretical signal-to-noise ratio of RGWs for various values of , using the cross-correlation for the given pair of LIGO detectors. The constraints by the indirect bound on the energy density of RGWs by big bang nucleosynthesis and cosmic microwave background have been obtained, which turn out to be still more stringent than LIGO S5.
