Helical Structures in Metal-ligand Systems

Abstract:Helical ribbons were obtained in the mixtures of barium salts of lithocholic acid (LCA), Ba(LC)2, with an amphiphilic amine oxide, dodecyldimethylamine oxide (C12DMAO), in aqueous solutions. The formation of diverse supramolecular structures was induced by the comprehensive noncovalent interactions, such as metal-ligand, steric effect, and hydrophobic interactions, etc. Among them, beside the crucial role acted by the metal-ligand coordinated interaction, the rigid chiral spatial effect and hydrophobic also show power strength.
