Optimal pricing policy for deterioration items with preservation technology investment

Abstract:This paper considers the problem of simultaneously determining the price and inventory control strategies for deteriorating items. It is assumed that the rate of deterioration can be reduced by means of effective capital preservation technology investment and the demand rate is a function of selling price. The objective of this study is to simultaneously determine the optimal selling price, the optimal length of replenishment cycle and the optimal preservation technology investment such that the total profit per unit time is maximized. First, for any given preservation technology investment, we prove that the optimal selling price and the optimal length of replenishment cycle exist and are unique. Next, we show that the total profit is a concave function of the preservation technology investment. Then, an effective algorithm is designed to find the optimal solution of the proposed model. Finally, numerical examples to illustrate the solution procedure and some managerial implications are provided.

摘要:研究了在考虑改善易逝品仓储环境时企业的最优定价策略。其中市场需求是价格的函数,并且通过投资改善仓储技术能有效降低易逝性商品的衰减率。本文研究的目的是求取最优的定价、补货周期及仓储技术投资以极大化单位时间上的利润。分析表明:对于给定的仓储技术投资,证明了最优的定价、最优的补货周期存在并唯一;另一方面,对于给定的定价和补货周期,单位时间上的利润函数是一个关于仓储技术投资的凹函数。在此基础上,给出了求解最优策略的有效算法。数值算例表明了本文方法的有效性。
