NiO QDs Embedded in rGO Sheets: Synthesis, Characterization, and Antibacterial Properties for Water Disinfection

Abstract:NiO-rGO (reduced graphene oxide) composite was synthesized through a facile wet chemical method. HRTEM showed highly monodispersed NiO quantum dots embedded in rGO were about 2 nm in diameter. AFM showed the composite sheets had an average thickness of ~1 nm. The antibacterial activity of NiO-rGO composites was investigated toward gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli). The minimum inhibitory concentration of NiO-rGO composite to E. coli was 1875 mgomL?1, and the minimum bactericidal concentration was 15000 mgomL?1. It also showed a remarkably antibacterial activity with a mean diameter of inhibitory zones of 13 mm (compared to 8 nm of the blank experiment) by paper disk diffusion tests. The results indicate the composite can be used as a probable disinfectant in water treatment.

摘要:采用简便的湿化学法合成了NiO量子点-还原氧化石墨烯复合型纳米材料。高分辨显示单分散的尺寸约2 nm的NiO量子点包埋在平均厚度为1 nm的rGO片层中。利用合成的此种复合物针对革兰氏阴性细菌E. coli进行了抗菌实验测试。测试表明最小抑菌浓度为1875 mgomL?1,最小杀菌浓度为15000 mgomL?1。抑菌圈实验也证明此产物有明显的抗菌效果(相对空白实验直径8 mm,抑菌圈平均直径为13 mm)。以上结果表明合成的复合纳米材料作为抗菌剂在水处理中具有潜在应用。
