The Effect of 1,7-Bromine Substitution at Bay Area on Self-Assembly Behavior and Photo Physical Properties of Perylene Diimide

Abstract:N,N'-bis(n-dodecyl)-3,4:9,10-tetracarboxyl-diimide(1,7-H-PDI-C12) and its corresponding 1,7-Br substitution at bay position (1,7-Br-PDI-C12) have been synthesized and characterized using 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, FT-IR, spectrum and WAXD. A comparison of the two samples photophysical properties using UV-vis and fluorescence emission spectra reveal that bay substitutions of PDI with bromine do not have significant effect on the PDI photophysical properties in solution. However, the solid state fluorescence properties were enhanced by the bay area bromination. Solid Фf as high 2.83% was obtained for 1,7-Br-PDI-C12 as compare to 0.02% for 1,7-H-PDI-C12, this was also reflected in the solid flourescence emmision. This work shows that we can improve solid state photophysical properties of PDI without changing the other properties by simply using bromine bay area substitution. These types of materials are useful intermidiate for further synthesis of perylene diimide with tunnable optoelectronic properties.

摘要:以十二胺为原料分别合成了其双侧对称取代苝酰亚胺(1,7-H-PDI-C12)及其湾位Br取代产物(1,7-Br-PDI-C12),通过1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, FT-IR,光谱和广角X衍射表征分析了它们的化学结构和自组装行为。该两种分子的紫外-可见光光谱和荧光发射光谱分析表明湾位取代对PDI溶液状态下的光物理性质无明显影响,但湾位Br取代提高了固态苝酰亚胺晶体的荧光发射及其荧光量子产率,前者仅为0.02%,而后者2.83%。该研究表明可以通过湾位Br取代提高苝酰亚胺在固态下的光物理性质,并且可以以其为中间产物进行衍生化,从而调控苝酰亚胺的光电性质。
