利用高质量X射线双星光度函数限制公共包层机制

摘要:X射线光度函数是研究X射线双星星族的有力工具。利用高质量X射线双星的光度函数,本文对公共包层机制做出了限制。本文发现能量机制 ($lpha_{ m CE}$机制)能较好拟合观测,而角动量机制($gamma$机制)预言的高质量X射线双星数目高出观测约1-2个量级。高质量X射线双星的轨道周期分布为进一步区分模型提供观测依据。

Constraining the Common Envelope Mechanisms from the Luminosity Function of High Mass X-ray Binaries
Abstract:X-ray luminosity function (XLF) is a powerful tool to study X-ray binary populations. Using the observed XLF of high mass X-ray binaries (HMXBs), this work makes constraints on the common envelope (CE) mechanisms. This study shows that the energy budget approach for CE is able to reproduce the observed XLF, while the angular momentum budget approach predicts HMXB population about 1 to 2 orders of magnitude greater than observed. The period distribution of HMXBs may provide further clues to discriminate between the two models.
