System-Level Performance of Downlink Non-orthogonal Multiple Access with MIMO System

Abstract:In this paper, system-level performance of downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) with MIMO system is investigated. The goal is to clarify the potential gains of NOMA over orthogonal multiple access (OMA) such as OFDMA in MIMO system. The system-level performance evaluation considers the link adaptation functionalities of the radio interface and the pre-coding, equalization, and adaptive streaming of MIMO system. Specially, the impact of key functions of NOMA is researched, including multi-user transmit power allocation, multi-user scheduling, user pairing and threshold in user grouping, on the system-level performance. The system-level simulation results prove the NOMA gain and evaluate the performance impact of each NOMA key functions.
