Study on Multi-Function Filterless Millimeter-wave and Nyquist pulse Generator Based on Cascaded Modulators

Abstract:In this study, a novel filterless millimeter-wave and Nyquist pulse generator is proposed. Three modes coexist to generate frequency doubling, frequency Sextupling mm-wave signals at same time and Nyquist pulse. A complete theoretical analysis is developed and the characteristic of the proposed scheme is also discussed. A 60GHz mm-wave signal with ESSR over 24dB, a 180 GHz mm-wave signal without power vibrates and a Nyquist pulse with 4-tones optical frequency comb (OFC)(23.7% duty cycle) are achieved. The cascade effect has also been considered, which can be used to simultaneously generate Nyquist pulses with 4-tones, 8-tones and 16-tones OFC with the smallest duty down to 5.81%. Furthermore, the extinction ratio, power vibrates and power penalty are all be discussed in this paper.

摘要:本文提出了一种新型的无滤波毫米波与奈奎斯特脉冲波形发生器。具备3种模式,能够生成二倍频及六倍频毫米波信号和奈奎斯特脉冲波形。通过较为完备的理论分析以及软件仿真,我们分别得到了ESSR 超过24dB的60GHz 毫米波信号,拥有抗功率抖动特性的180GHz毫米波信号以及占空比为23.7%的奈奎斯特波形。同时我们对发生器的级联效应进行了研究分别获得了4、8、16条谱线的矩形光学频率梳,从而获得了占空比最小为5.81%的奈奎斯特波形。除自制外,消光比、功率抖动以及传输功率代价对系统的影响也在本文进行了讨论。
