利用AWG和示波器实现光纤延时精确测量

摘要:在光通信领域,光纤传输延迟作为光纤传输的基本特征时常需要精确测量。在一些对光纤的延时要求较高的系统(如光纤定时分配系统)中,光纤延时的精确度甚至达到ps级。为了能够精确测量光纤的短时间延迟,本文提出了一种精确的实验测量方法:将光延时转换为电信号相位的变化,然后根据相位差计算出对应的延时时间。实验使用能够发送高频正弦信号的AWG和高采样率的示波器,以确保测得的光纤延时的高精度。实验中将第二分路信号作为触发信号,消除了波形抖动的影响。对于1ps延迟时间的测量,测量精度小于1%(0.01ps)。

Precisely measuring for time delay of optical fiber using AWG and oscilloscope
Abstract:In the field of optical communication, optical fiber transmission delay as the basic characteristics of optical fiber transmission often requires accurate measurement. In some high requirements for optical fiber delay system (such as optical fiber timing distribution system), optical fiber delay accuracy even reached ps. In order to measure short fiber delay accurately, this paper presents a precise experimental method: transform optical delay into electrical signal phase change, then calculate the corresponding delay timeaccording to the phase difference. The experiment uses AWG that can send high frequency sinusoidal signal and high sampling rate oscilloscope to ensure the high precision of the measured optical fiber delay. In the experiment, the second branch signal is used as the trigger signal to eliminate the influence of the waveform jitter. For the measurement of 1ps delay time, the measurement accuracy is less than 1% (0.01 ps).
