The effect of acute lead exposure on gut microbiota and intestinal function in mice
Abstract:Foodborne lead pollution has become a serious public safety and health problem. In the past, more attention has been paid to the damage mechanism of lead exposure to liver, kidney and other targeted organs. However, the effect of lead exposure on the intestinal function and commensal flora has been ignored. In the present work, the changes of intestinal function and microflora after acute lead exposure in mice were analyzed by animal model. The results showed that acute lead exposure led to a decrease in the diversity of intestinal bacteria and significantly affected the composition of the gut bacteria. To some extent, the abundance of beneficial bacteria such as Adlercreutzia, Lachnospiraceae and Allobaculum was partly diminished, accompanied by the increase of opportunistic pathoThe effect of acute lead exposure on gut microbiota and intestinal function in micegen such as Enterobacter and Pseudomonas. Meanwhile, acute lead exposure can lead to impaired intestinal barrier function, increased oxidative stress levels, and significantly reduced levels of short-chain fatty acids in the gut.
