孔子学院仅仅促进中国对外出口吗?

摘要:本文就孔子学院是否对中国及孔子学院设立国家的出口贸易有积极的促进作用问题进行了研究,利用2004-2016年68个国家的跨国数据,实证结果证明在海外设立孔子学院对中国及其贸易伙伴国是互惠互利的,不仅促进了中国的出口,更有利于东道国的对华出口,且促进作用更强,该结果在一定程度上很好地回应了海外一些媒体对孔子学院的不利言论与猜忌。通过对孔子学院对中国出口贸易影响的深入分析可以得到以下结论:第一,在孔子学院东道国异质性方面,孔子学院在发达国家或与中国文化距离小的国家作用更强。第二,孔子学院促进中国出口的机制主要是通过文化交流降低文化差异对出口的负面影响,以及作为非正式制度为中国出口提供来自母国的保护,与孔子学院东道国正式制度形成互补。

Does the Confucius Institute only promote China's exports?
Abstract:This paper studies whether the Confucius Institute has positively promoted the export trade of China and the foreign which Confucius Institutes established. Using the cross-country data of 68 countries from 2004 to 2016, the empirical results prove that the establishment of the Confucius Institute overseas is mutually beneficial to China and its trading partners. It not only promotes China's exports, but also facilitates the host country's exports to China, and the promotion is stronger. To some extent, the results respond to the unfavorable comments and suspicions of some overseas media on Confucius Institutes. Through the in-depth analysis of the influence of the Confucius Institute on China's export trade, the following conclusions can be drawn: First, in the heterogeneity of the host country of the Confucius Institute, the Confucius Institute plays a more prominent role in developed countries or countries with a small cultural distance from China. Second, The Confucius Institute's mechanism to promote China's exports is mainly to reduce the negative impact of cultural differences on exports through cultural exchanges, and to provide protection for Chinese exports as an informal system of the home country, complementing the formal system of the host country of the Confucius Institute.
