付费收益与知识公共品提供:达则兼济天下?--来自社会化问答社区的经验证据

摘要:随着社交网络与共享经济的发展,社会化问答社区逐渐衍生出两类截然不同的知识产出:知识公共品和知识付费品。然而,在"功利性"知识付费与"公益性"知识分享之间是否存在某种内在联系?这仍是一个尚待解决的重要理论问题。本文从自我验证理论的独特视角分析了付费收益对知识公共品提供的激励效应,并考虑了"自我呈现"和"声誉资产"等个体差异对其调节作用。进而,通过采用网络爬虫抓取"知乎"社区微观数据,实证检验了上述理论机制。实证研究表明:付费收益对知识公共品的供给具有正向影响,但其激励效应存在显著"个体差异性"。相较于匿名者,付费收益对披露真实职业身份的个体激励作用更大;相较于拥有声誉资产者,付费收益对不拥有该资产的个体激励作用更大。本文得到一个有趣启示:互联网环境下知识提供者具有"达则兼济天下"的情怀,即"付费收益"与"免费分享"之间可能存在某种对立统一关系。

The Income from Paid Knowledge and Provision of Free knowledge: in Success, One Tries to Let Others be Benefited
Abstract:With the development of social network and sharing economy, the socialized question and answer community has generated two kinds of different knowledge output: free knowledge and paid knowledge. However, is there certain internal connection between \'utilitarian\' knowledge payment and \'commonweal\' knowledge sharing? This is still an important theoretical problem to be solved. This paper analyzes the incentive effect provided by the income from paid knowledge for the free knowledge from the unique perspective of self-verification theory, and considers the regulating effect of individual differences such as \'self-presentation\' and \'reputation assets\'. Furthermore, the above mechanism is empirically tested through adopting the web crawlers to capture data of \'Zhihu\' community. The empirical research indicates that the income has a positive impact on the supply of free knowledge, but its incentive effect has significant \'individual difference\'. The income has a greater incentive effect for the individuals who disclose their real occupational identity compared with the anonyms; the income has a greater incentive effect to the individuals who do not own the reputation assets compared with those who have such assets. There is an interesting inspiration in this paper: the knowledge providers have the emotion of \'in success, one tries to let others be benefited\' under the Internet environment, that is, there may be certain relation of unity of opposites between \'the income from paid knowledge\' and \'free sharing\'.
