Newfound Huge Latent Impact Structure Suggests an Extraterrestrial Cause for the End-Triassic Extinction

Abstract:Our paper attempts to answer the scientific question raised by Paul Olson and Daniel Kent: did a giantimpact 200 million years ago trigger a mass extinction and pave the way for the dinosaurs (Roff Smith,2011)?Here we report a highly suspected impact crater----a large circular continental notch structure,which we named C5. C5 structure is found under the guidance of a principle called ParallelCoincidence Principle(PCP). Using PCP to splice the continental-shelf outline on both sides of the AtlanticOcean, we get the new Pangea map, which is different from the existing textbooks, and the C5structure will be clearly displayed on the new map of Pangea. And we demonstrate that C5 is a hugeimpact crater at the Triassic/Jurassic boundary. The Parallel Coincidence Principle is an importantcorollary of our Giant Impact and Great Rift (GI-GR) hypothesis. The GI-GR hypothesis is put forwardto understand the formation of Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs). One of the most striking points of this hypothesis is that the impact of a large-scale meteorite can cause not only a huge impact crater, but alsoa great impact rift in the Earth\'s lithosphere. A large amount of magma can gush out of the largefracture and quickly form LIPs. Now more and more scientists believe that the End-Triassic Extinction is closely related to the super large-scale magma eruption of the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province(CAMP), but they have been debating how this Largest Igneous Povince on earth was formed. Our GI-GR hypothesis may likely give the most reasonable answer: giant impact leads to great rift, great friftleads to Large Igneous Provinces. Scientists have put forward many clues, hypotheses andcontroversies about the cause of the mass extinction at the end of Triassic. According to the GI-GRhypothesis,we have also put forward a new version of the bolide extinction model, the Giant Impactand Large Igeous Provinces (GI-LIPs) model. At the end of the paper, we discuss the scale anddirection of this meteorite. Our paper may also partially answer three other scientific questions: "where is the initial driving force of continental drift" and "how new plates and huge passive super mantleplumes are formed".

摘要:新发现的巨大潜在撞击结构--C5 结构,揭示出了两亿年前的三叠纪生物大灭绝的首位原因是一场超大规模的陨星撞击。根据大尺度上的能量守恒定律和地震波能量的传播规律,进行总体上的数学模拟,推断出:超过一定规模的陨星撞击地球之后,不仅能在地表造成巨大的撞击坑,还能够把地球的岩石圈撞击出一条主要的很深很长的大裂缝,海量的岩浆从大裂缝里往两边快速奔涌,短时间内形成大规模火成岩区--这就是本文提出的巨撞击-大裂缝假说的主要内容。根据巨撞击-大裂缝假说得到了平行重合原理,根据平行重合原理,对大西洋两岸的大陆架进行重构--得到了全新的两亿年之前的盘古大陆复原图,新的复原图上,出现了一个巨大的圆形的潜在撞击结构--C5结构,从现有的充足的证据和资料论证了C5结构就是造成两亿年三叠纪生物大灭绝的超大规模陨星的撞击遗留下来的撞击坑--从而为陨星撞击导致三叠纪生物大灭绝的科学设想找到了最直接的证据。超大规模陨星撞击形成了中大西洋岩浆区,而中大西洋岩浆区已经被科学界普遍认为和三叠纪生物大灭绝紧密相关,从而统一了三叠纪生物大灭绝的根本原因的争论:既是撞击原因,又是超级火山喷发原因--而超大规模陨星撞击是首要原因。我们还提出了一个新版本的火流星灭绝模型--巨撞击-大火成岩区(GI-LIPs)模式。在论文的最后,我们讨论了这个陨星的撞击规模和和撞击方向。我们的论文也部分回答了另外三个科学问题:"是谁提供了大陆漂移的初始驱动力"和"新板块与巨大的被动超级地幔柱是如何形成的"。
