Abstract:The biotribology behaviour of a UHMWPE acetabular insert in bovine calf serum was investigated. The wear weight was acquired after 5,000,000 cycles and the wear surfaces were observed by SEM. The wear weight of the acetabular insert increased as the number of cycles increased. The maximum wear weight was approximately 0.47 g, corresponding to a linear wear of approximately 0.099 mm/year (less than 0.1 mm/year), indicating that osteolysis does not occur. Through observation the wear surfaces, an abrasive wear mechanism was determined to the main mechanical wear mechanism. Wear debris was observed on the wear surfaces. The results demonstrated that the UHMWPE acetabular insert could be used in clinically.

UHMWPE髋臼内衬在牛血清中的生物摩擦学行为
摘要: 本文研究了超高分子量聚乙烯(UHMWPE)髋臼内衬在牛血清中的生物摩擦学行为。所采用的样品为UHMWPE制备的直径为36mm的髋臼内衬,与其配套的金属球头是采用Co-Cr-Mo合金制备的(直径为36mm),髋臼外杯则是采用Ti-6Al-4V合金制备的(外径为54mm)。按照国际标准ISO 14242的要求,在HS/MS 4203髋关节磨损测试设备上进行摩擦磨损实验,磨损过程中力的加载标准按照ISO 14242-3规定的进行,并用来评价UHMWPE髋臼内衬生物摩擦学行为,其中循环磨损次数为500万次,每100万次磨损后对样品进行重量称量,最后计算UHMWPE髋臼内衬线磨损量,并通过扫描电子显微镜对UHMWPE髋臼内衬磨损后的磨痕形貌进行分析。UHMWPE髋臼内衬经过500万次的循环磨损后,称量所得其磨损质量约为0.47g,计算所得对应的线磨损量为0.099 mm/年,低于临床通常要求的0.1mm/年。通过SEM观察发现,在磨损表面可观察到一些磨损颗粒及梨沟状凹槽,磨损过程中所呈现出的主要磨损机制为磨粒磨损。过UHMWPE髋臼内衬的线磨损量可以得知,采用该UHMWPE制备的髋臼内衬可满足临床上的安全使用,且不容易引发骨溶解。
