Chemical analysis of groundwater in two separate areas of the coastal city of Port-Sudan, Red Sea State of Sudan, was carried out in order to determine the chemical distribution of the groundwater and evaluate the rate of saline water migration. Nineteen (19) samples were collected from the area of Suakin close to Red sea and creeks (Group A) and from an inland area called Tokar (Group B). Samples of group ‘A’ are dominated by Na Cl and have average TDS of approximately 200 mg/l; samples from group ‘B’ are weakly mineralized (TDS approximately 50 mg/l), although still dominated by Na Cl. The study indicates that groundwater closer to the sea is affected by saline intrusion. Comparison of the groundwater chemistry of the group A samples in this study with samples from the same study area in 1990 show a deterioration in groundwater quality in the past 18 years.

With the knowledge of heterogeneous characteristics of thermal barrier coating materials at mesoscopic level, a coupled thermo-mechanical-damage (TMD Model) model was introduced and used to numerically quantify the thermal stresses and crack development of in thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) composite subjected to decreased temperatures. The effect of different surface precrack morphologies, such as precrack length and precrack density, on an interface crack subjected to thermal loading caused by a temperature change is presented. It provides us with a more sensible physical intuition and a more accurate mathematical for optimizing the design and the processing of ceramic coatings subjected to the coupled thermal-mechanical loading

In order to find a better drop-weight testing method and equipment for investigating impact properties of fiber-reinforced concrete, this paper thoroughly analyzed the merits of existed methods (CECS13:2008 and ACI54.4R) , and then improved the drop method, positioning of drop hammer, protecting parts of the equipment, the dimension of specimen and advanced the analytical method to analyze the impact resistance quantitatively. After the adjustment and improvement, according to conducted projects, the equipment and method eliminated the artificial influence which affected the free drop of the drop hammer, prevented the secondary impact on the specimen, protected the safety of the experimenter and made a desired results based on the adapted analytical method.

Testing the concrete quality during construction process and acceptable assessment before putting them into operation is one of important phases in order to ensure the quality of works. Thus testing method has to achieve result close to the real quality of works. For that reason, management and checking the quality of concrete is a very important job, not only to improve life span of the works, but also to enhance construction speed and to meet the technical and economic demands. In reality, there are two methods to determine the concrete strength (destructive testing and non- destructive testing). However, destructive testing is very complicated during making sample and may have effect to structures; while non- destructive testing by using combination of ultrasonic equipment and hammer gun for determination of compressive strength[1], so the result has not high fidelity and sometimes delay the rate of progress of execute the works. From that issue, this paper puts forward the preliminary research on the measurements to carry out the fast concrete testing with non-destructive equipments

论文先对现代无金属水工闸门的设计所应蕴涵的中华文化进行了深入的剖析,并介绍了首座纤维混凝土结构水工闸门中采用复合纤维代替钢筋进行设计的方法,设计验算了闸门最大应力及挠度等重要力学指标,结果从定量上明确显示了用复合纤维代替钢筋的优越性。为了现代无金属水工闸门技术的推广应用,论文也对有关设计规范的制定进行了初步地讨论。
