As the kinematics and statics play a very important role in determining the actuating inputs and the effective loads that the end-effector sustains, this paper focuses on this issue and proposes an analytical process to study the forward and inverse kinematics and statics of spatial manipulators. As series manipulators and parallel manipulators show different features in kinematics and statics, this paper therefore discusses them separately. Firstly, the forward and inverse velocity problems of the manipulator linkages are investigated with reciprocal screw theory. Then, the static balance conditions together with forward and inverse statics of the manipulator linkages are established through virtual power theory. In the kinematics analysis, the primary conditions for feasible motions of an end-effector are addressed through velocity screws. Illustrative examples indicate that the method proposed in this paper can be used to guide the singularity identification, path planning and feasible motion determination.

The radial polarized doughnut Gaussian beam is introduced firstly. The focusing characteristics of radial polarized doughnut Gaussian beam by lens with high numerical aperture is investigated based on Richards-Wolf's vectorial diffraction method. Numerical results indicates that sub-wavelength focusing are obtained for incident radial polarized doughnut Gaussian beam. Therefore, radial polarized doughnut Gaussian beam is considerable in the field of super-resolution focusing.?????

A three-axis micromachined accelerometer where a proof mass is suspended electrostatically in all six degrees of freedom was designed and tested in order to evaluate the performance of this sensitive accelerometer for potential space applications. The micromachined device is based on a glass/silicon/glass bonding structure, fabricated by bulk micro-machining process and operated with closed-loop force-balance technology. The motion of the proof mass with respect to each side is fully servo-controlled by capacitive position sensing and electrostatic force feedback. The design of multi-axis suspension control loops are based on the stiffness requirements for different full-scale ranges. To facilitate ground test of this low-g accelerometer, the measurement range in the vertical axis is set at a relatively high value in order to counteract the gravity in one g condition, while the range in two lateral axes is set as low as possible to achieve high sensitivity. Experimental results of electrostatic suspension, accelerometer performance and cross-axis coupling effect are presented and discussed with the device operated initially in atmospheric environment. Preliminary results of tests on a prototype micro-accelerometer show a sensitivity up to 688.8V/g and noise level of 3 μg/Hz1/2 can be achieved by setting a extremely low full-scale range of ±2.90mg.

This paper investigates the principal screws and their pitches of screw systems from the viewpoint of line geometry. It starts from the fact that any independent screws pertaining to a specified -screw system can be utilized to determine the system, and the pitch of a unit screw is the half of the reciprocal product with itself. Therefore, the pitch of any screw of a screw system can be represented by a homogeneous quadratic form of the linear combination coefficients. As a matter of fact, the homogeneous quadratic equation of the pitch of a screw system represents a conic curve in two-system and an ellipsoid or a hyperboloid in three-system. The reciprocal product matrix of a screw matrix is then defined to determine the principal pitches and the directions of the principal screw axes of the system. By matrix diagonalization, one can ultimately obtain the principal pitches and the principal screws.
