Cis/trans 1,2-dicyanoethylenes bearing tetrathiafulvalene units linked by ethylenedithio spacer were prepared. The cis isomer was converted to eight tetrathiafulvalene unit substituted magnesium porphyrazine upon a metal-templated cyclotetramerization with magnesium propoxide in propanol. The dicyanoethylenes and target compound were characterized by EA, NMR, and MALDI-TOF mass and photophysical and Electrochemical propeties were discussed.

One trinuclear di-n-butytin(IV) complex with salicylaldoxime (HONZOH=o-HON=CH C6H4-OH), (Bu2Sn)2(Bu2SnO)(OH)(ONZOH)(ONZO), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectrum and single crystal X-ray diffraction. This compound is a small cluster displaying two unequivalent salicylaldoximate with one seven-coordinate pentagonal-bipyramidal tin atom linked two five-coordinate trigonal-bipyramidal tin atoms via a network of oxygen atoms by Sn-O-Sn bridges. The hydrogen bonds (o-HON=CHC6H4-O…H-O) are observed in the complex. These hydrogen bonds include intramolecular hydrogen bonds and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. (Bu2Sn)2(Bu2SnO)(OH)(ONZOH)(ONZO) belongs to monoclinic: space group P2(1)/n, with a = 12.2307(15) Å, b = 17.361(2) Å, c = 20.976(3) Å, β = 94.424(2)˚, V = 4440.5(10) Å3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.500g/cm3, μ(MoKα) = 1.715mm-1, F(000) = 2024, and final R1 = 0.0426, wR2= 0.1064 for observed reflections 7779(I > 2ơ(I)).

A gene, ClCDA, encoding chitin deacetylase from Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, was optimized according to the codon usage bias of Pichia pastoris and synthesized in vitro by overlap extension PCR. It was secretorily expressed in P. pastoris GS115 using constitutive expression vector pHMB905A. The expression level reached the highest with 110 mg/l culture supernatant after 72 h methanol induction, which comprises of 77.27 U/mg chitin deacetylase activities. SDS-PAGE, mass spectrometry and deglycosylation assays demonstrated that part of recombinant protein was glycosylated with an apparent molecular mass of 33 kDa. The amino acid sequences of recombinant proteins were confirmed by mass spectrometry.

Accordion-like VO2 nanowire arrays were synthesized using V2O5 power as the precursor and cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) as structure-directing templates by one-step rheological phase reaction followed by self-assembling process. Characterizations of the samples were carried out by XRD, SEM, the results show nanowire arrays were approximately cubic structure with the length of 10μm and the width and height of 5μm. The nanowire arrays were constructed from single nanowires of diameter around 100-160nm and length around 2~3μm. Cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge indicates that the initial charge and discharge capacity of the accordion-like nanowire arrays cathodes are up to 262mAh/g and 288mAh/g respectively , much higher than the capacity of the counterpart with the disordered structure.

A homologous series of novel heterogemini surfactants, (N, N-Dimethyl-N-[3-(alkyloxy)-2-hydroxypropyl]-alkylammonium bromide (referred to as CmOhpNCn; m, n = 10, 8; 12, 8; 14, 8; 16, 8; 14, 10; 12, 12 and 10, 14) has been synthesized. Their thermotropic phase behavior has been investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), polarizing optical microscopy (POM), infrared spectroscopy (IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). All the compounds showed high thermal stability and formed enantiotropic thermotropic smectic A liquid crystals. The mesophase region was sensitive to the overall length (m + n) of the two hydrophobic tails and was widened with increasing (m + n). When fixing the overall length of the two hydrophobic tails (m + n =24), the liquid crystal region was affected little by the dissymmetry of the two hydrophobic chains. The combination of IR and XRD results suggested the cis configuration of the alkyl chain and the alkoxy chain with respect to the extended N溏CH2溏CH(OH) skeleton in both crystal lattice and liquid crystal mesophase. The folding of the alkoxy chain at the carbon atom connecting the hydroxyl group led to the hydrogen bonding between the hydroxyl and the Br溏 counterion, which is beneficial to stabilizing the liquid crystal phase.

The enantioselective transcyanation of acetyltrimethylsilane with acetone cyanohydrin catalyzed by (R)-oxynitrilases from plum seed meal in an aqueous/organic biphasic system for the preparation of (R)-2-trimethylsilyl-2-hydroxyl-ethylcyanide was successfully carried out. For optimization of the reaction, the influences of some important factors on the plum oxynitrilase-catalyzed reaction were investigated. Diisopropyl ether was found to be the best organic phase for the reaction among all the organic solvents explored. The optimal buffer pH and aqueous phase content were 5.0 and 13% (V/V), respectively, under which substrate conversion and product enantiomeric excess were 99% and 99%, respectively.

In the past several years, a lot of symmetric mono-carbonyl analogues of curcumin (MACs) have been designed and synthesized in our laboratory. In the recent study, Eleven asymmetric MACs were designed and synthesized. Their bioactivities were evaluated by inhibit LPS-stimulated macrophages release proinflammation cytokines TNF-α and IL-6. The compound 1d exhibit the most inhibit activity among the test compounds. These data show that asymmetric MACs might serve as potential agents for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.
