付贤智,教授,博士生导师,长期从事光催化研究。1997年回国后,创建了我国第一个集光催化基础研究、应用研究、工程化研究和人才培养为一体的研究所-福州大学光催化研究所,并使之发展为目前我国光催化高新技术领域里唯一的省部共建国家重点实验室培育基地、福建省光催化技术工程研究中心。在光催化基础理论研究、应用研究和产业化等领域里开展了系统深入的工作,近年来主持和承担了国家科技攻关重大项目、国家自然科学基金重点和国家自然科学基金面上项目等20余项国家和省部级科研项目以及一批与军队、企业合作的应用研究项目。迄今在国内外发表学术论文150多篇,获得国家发明专利10项,其中4项实现成果转化和产业化。科研成果先后获得国家科技进步奖二等奖1项、省部级科技进步一等奖3项。2003年获得全国留学回国人员成就奖,2005年被评为全国先进工作者。

Photocatalytic degradation of benzene in oxygen-containing gaseous feed streams was investigated using titania and platinized (0.1 wt.-%) titania photocatalysts. The titania catalyst was synthesized using sol-gel techniques. Results of this study indicate that, when using this particular photocatalyst, benzene was oxidized to carbon dioxide and water without forming any detectable organic reaction products in the reactor effluent, although only some of the benzene reacted. Both the overall conversion of benzene and its mineralization were improved by platinizing the titania. When the titania catalyst was platinized, both photocatalytic and thermocatalytic reactions were promoted. Catalytic hydrolysis of dichlorodifluoromethane (CFC-12) in a humid air stream was studied over pure and sulfate promoted TiO2 catalysts which were prepared by sol-gel methods. The results showed that complete conversion of CFC-12 on unmodified TiO2 was achieved at reaction temperatures higher than 340±C under the employed reaction conditions. The selectivity to CO2 ([CO2]produced/[CFC-12]converted) varied from 0.5 to 0.88 over the range of 250–350±C and CClF3 (CFC-13) was detected as the main by-product. Surface fluorination of the TiO2 catalyst during the reaction improved its activity, induced the formation of the fluorinated by-product CFC-13, and changed such properties of the catalyst as its specific surface area, pore size distribution, and crystal size. It was found that the catalytic and structural properties of TiO2 were greatly improved by sulfation. The sulfated TiO2 (TiO2/SO42-) exhibited excellent reaction activity and selectivity for CFC-12 catalytic decomposition at low reaction temperatures (190–250±C) while retaining a stable structure. Complete decomposition of CFC-12 with stoichiometric production of CO2 was observed over the TiO2/SO42- catalyst at 250±C under otherwise identical reaction conditions as used for pure TiO2. Results of catalyst characterization by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and N2 sorption analysis indicated that surface sulfate species formed on the sulfated TiO2. When compared to unmodified TiO2, the sulfated TiO2 exhibited higher resistance to crystal phase transformation from anatase to rutile, higher resistance to the deleterious effects of fluorination of the catalyst, and higher specific surface area. Fluorination of the catalyst did not improve the activity of sulfated TiO2 and no CFC-13 was detected as a by-product, indicating that fluorine was not involved in the formation of reaction sites over the sulfated TiO2 catalysts. °c 1997 Academic Press.

Macroporous nanocrystalline zinc ferrite with single spinel-phase was prepared by a facile self-propagating combustion method using zinc nitrate, iron nitrate and glycine. The as-prepared ZnFe2O4 were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, N2 adsorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrum (EDS). The magnetic properties of the prepared ZnFe2O4 were also studied.

Hollow metal oxide fibers [TiO2 and Fe2O3] have been prepared by using activated carbon fibers [ACFs] as the templates, through a simple impregnation and heat treatment. The resulting products, as compared to ACFs, possessed not only a similar morphological feature upward to the micrometer scale but also different surface nanostructures with unique morphology. The TiO2 fibers displayed overlapped “wormlike” surface and a hierarchical structure with two distinguishable layers, the inner layer and the outer layer, which were composed of the particles of 7 and 15 nm, respectively. It was also found that the reaction temperature had a significant effect on the TiO2 surface morphology. The Fe2O3 fibers exhibited a rough and crinkle-like surface and were also composed of hierarchical particles. Both TiO2 and Fe2O3 fibers possessed the hierarchical pore structure with mesopores in the walls of the large hollow channel. Such porous architecture favored the resultant TiO2 with better apparent photoactivity than P25 titania for degradation of gaseous acetone and would also make the materials useful for further application in other fields.

Sol-gel prepared mixtures of silica or zirconia with titania are shown to have significantly higher activities than pure titania for the complete photocatalytic oxidation of ethylene. These higher activities are only apparentwhen the respective catalysts are stabilized by sintering. The differences become even more pronounced when the catalysts are used in a tubular reactor. Optimum mixture concentrations are found to be 12 wt % zirconia and 16 wt % silica in titania. Both catalyst types exhibit activity maxima with respect to sintering temperature. It is hypothesized that the maxima arise from opposing effects of densification and phase transformation versus beneficial sintering. A comparison of our catalyst compositions with literature in this area suggests that the increase in activity due to the addition of silica or zirconia may be a result of higher surface acidity. However, isoelectric point measurements employing the unsintered and sintered catalysts show no conclusive increase in surface acidity. The effects of sintering temperature on the surface area, porosity, and crystal structure of the catalysts are also presented.

A porous β-Ga2O3 photocatalyst has been successfully prepared. The photocatalyst was characterized by XRD, N2 adsorption-desorption, TEM, UV/vis, and FTIR techniques. The photocatalytic activity of the sample was evaluated by the decomposition of benzene in air under UV light illumination and was compared with that of the commercial titania [Degussa P25] and Pt/P25. Results revealed that the synthesized Ga2O3 was porous β-Ga2O3 and was highly photoactive for mineralizing benzene and its derivatives [e.g., toluene and ethylbenzene] to CO2 under ambient conditions. The photocatalytic conversion of benzene over β-Ga2O3 was about 1 order of magnitude higher than that over P25, and no obvious deactivation of β-Ga2O3 was observed during the prolonged operation of 80 h. The high activity and long-term stability of the Ga2O3 have been ascribed to its stronger oxidative capability and higher specific surface area in comparison with P25.

Stable crystalline CdS nanoparticles were synthesized in Nafion ionomer membranes by using thioacetamide (TAA) as a nonionic precursor. Unlike the ionic precursors such as Na2S, TAA could diffuse into the cationic-exchangeable ionomer membranes much more uniformly. This led to the formation of homogeneously distributed CdS nanoparticles in the Nafion membranes, which was confirmed by elemental mapping with energy-dispersive X-ray (EDAX) analysis. Results from the characterizations on the physical properties, the chemical stability, and the photocatalytic properties of these CdS nanoparticles embedded in Nafion membranes are presented and discussed. The parallel data from the CdS nanoparticles in Nafion membranes prepared from the ionic Na2S precursor are also shown for comparison.

TiO2 fibers were fabricated through heat treatment of titanium alkoxide dissolved in a solvent (ethanol and toluene) under autogenous pressure, using activated carbon fibers as templates. For comparison, a supercritical CO2 process was also employed. The difference in the solvent’s affinity for water led to a large difference in the morphology of TiO2 fibers produced. Moreover, the fibers synthesized using toluene in our relatively mild conditions exhibited a similar pore size distribution and surface area to those made using supercritical CO2.
