王文祥,男,1940年7月生,江苏无锡市人,电子科技大学教授,博士生导师,享受国务院特殊津贴专家,四川省学术和技术带头人。1963年由原成都电讯工程学院电子器件专业毕业,留校工作至今。1986年10月至1988年11月在美国马里兰大学做访问学者。先后任大功率微波电真空器件技术国防科技重点实验室副主任兼实验室电子科大分部主任,电子科技大学高能电子学研究所副所长,校学位委员会委员,学术委员会委员,现任中国电子学会真空电子学分会副主任委员,大功率微波国防科技重点实验室学术委员会委员。
长期从事微波电子学、相对论电子学、微波技术与测量、高功率微波等领域的研究和教学工作。曾作为骨干主研人员参与研制了我国第一只周期永磁聚焦行波管——S波段中噪声行波管(北京电子管厂产品),2450MHz、30KW连续波磁控管(上海灯泡厂产品),X波段、1KW连续波前向波放大器(转产给景光电子管厂),30MW回旋速调管(美国马里兰大学),8mm三次谐波回旋管以及三次谐波永磁包装回旋管等。先后作为课题负责人领导了二厘米回旋振荡管、电磁波泵泵源 模回旋管,大功率微波传输系统,高功率微波测试系统,选模耦合模式识别器,大功率微波频带合成技术,大功率微波输入控制、频带识别及输出系统,多级降压收集极CAD设计软件,宽带大功率行波管新型慢波线,高功率微波的提取和定向发射,波数谱分析仪,S波段大功率脉冲和连续波行波管ּּּּּּ等十余项重大项目的研究工作,获国家技术发明三等奖1项,部、省级科技进步一等奖2项,二等奖5项,三等奖3项。
已授权实用新型专利3项,发明专利3项;申请发明专利1项。合作编写了《微波电子学导论》专著1部,编写其中的25万字内容,该书获部级优秀教材特等奖和一等奖各1项。在国内外学术刊物和国际、全国性学术会议上已发表或与所指导研究生合作发表论文近200篇,100余篇次被SCI、EI、ISTP收录。
先后为研究生开设过“微波电子学”,“变截面波导与开放式谐振腔”,“微波工程技术”,“现代宽带大功率微波管理论”等课程,为本科生讲授过“磁控管”课程。已培养硕士,博士研究生30余名,其中两名博士生的学位论文被四川省推荐参加全国优秀博士论文评选。

The proposition to name the helical waveguide with the inner wall removed helical groove is presented in this paper. As an all-metal slow-wave circuit, the ridge-loaded helical-groove structure is especially suited for use in millimeter TWT’s due to its advantages of large size, high manufacturing precision, and good heat dissipation. However, the analysis of this slow-wave circuit was never before done. For analyzing this structure, the cylindrical coordinates are employed in the center space and the helical ones are used in the gap and groove regions. Making use of the matching conditions of the RF fields and the continuity of the voltage and current at the boundaries, the expressions for the dispersion and the coupling impedance of the ridge-loaded helical groove are obtained. The relationship of the dispersion and impedance to the ridge dimensions are also given. It is indicated from the calculation results that approximately 30% bandwidth for this structure can be achieved.

Mode discriminators based on mode-selective coupling principle have a series of advantages. The designing method of this type of discriminator is presented in this paper. The emphasis is put on the mode-selective coupler with a multihole and multigroup of coupling holes. All of the dimensions of the discriminator are determined by this method. The calibration and power measurement of the discriminator are also investigated. Some design examples of discriminators for 35- and 70-GHz gyrotrons, which can be applied to discriminate the TE11, TE01, and TE02 modes and the TE01, TE02, and TE03 modes, respectively, are given.

The design method of mode selective directional couplers from a transverse electric mode in a circular waveguide to the fundamental mode in a rectangular waveguide is presented in this paper. The design results for a TE01 circular mode coupler intended for use in the output power measurement of a high power gyroklystron are reported; these results indicate that more than 50-80dB directivity and sufficient suppression of unwanted modes can be obtained with a coupler less than 0.7 m in length. The effects of frequency and rectangular waveguide size on coupler parameters are also discussed in this paper.

A method for designing a waveguide-stripline-coaxial line directional coupler is presented. The relationships between coupling coefficient and directivity with the geometric dimensions of the directional coupler are derived theoretically. The parameters of manufactured couplers are also measured and the results show good agreement with the calculated results.

A new method for designing a directional coupler form the TE01 mode in a circular waveguide to the TE10 mode in a rectangular wavegnide is presented. This method is used to design a - 50 dB coupler for use in the sampling measurements of a very high power gyroklystron. By varying the rectangular waveguide size the suppression of the unwanted circular modes except the TE11 mode can be increased and by modifying the distance between the last two coupling holes the coupler directivity can be maximized. By using the coupling function Φ(x) to make a second group of coupling holes we can greatly improve the suppression of the TE11 mode. Some couplers with parameters d≥100dB, p≥100dB for the TE11 mode and p>10 dB for most of the other unwanted modes were designed by this method.

Making use of the Schwarz-Christoffel conformal transformation, the field distribution in stripline of the waveguide-stripline-coaxial directional coupler is derived. The coupling coefficient, directivity and the relationships between coupling coefficient and geometric dimensions are obtained by the coupling theory of the small hole. Comparison of calculated result and measured value of manufactured couplers shows that the difference between them is only 1.64%.

A novel sectorial groove-gap P, F structure for cusptron (gyromagnetron) is presented and its characteristic equation and stored energy expression are derived. The magnetron-like vane structure is a special case of this structure. The calculated curves of dispersion, energy and efficiency are given and the results show that maximum efficiency n = 16.1% is obtained when the sectorial groove-gap is evolved to vane structure.

As a new type all-metal slow-wave structure of the millimeter wave TWT, The helical groove has a lot of advantages: large power handling capability, large sizes, high precision and moderate bandwidth. Of the helical groove structure, the haft-circular helical groove can achieve wider passband than the rectangular helical groove can do. The approximate and much simple matching method of the fields of the half-circular structure is presented in this paper. The more general expressions of the dispersion characteristic and coupling impcdencc, in which the fast-wave modes and slow-wave modes are considered simultaneously, are obtained. It is indicated from the results of the numerical calculation that choosing suitable dimensions of the structure and suppessing the backward wave osillation, this kind of slow-wave structure can operate over 50% “hot” relative bandwidth.

The hole-gap helical groove waveguide, as a all-metal slow-wave circuit, has advantages of good heat dissipation and great size, and thus is suitable for use of mm TWT. By means of an approximate field theory, the expressions of the dispersion equation and the coupling impedance of the hole-gap helical groove waveguide is obtained in this paper. The influence of various circuit dimensions on the dispersion relation and the eoupling impedance is discussed by the numerical computation.

The design of a 8mm TE13 mode gyrotron is given in this paper. Discussions about the selection of the dimensions of the RF structure and electron gun are presented. Calculated results of the operating parameters of the gyrotron are also given. At 37.SGHz, pulse power 56kW is obtained for the gyrotron manufactured according to our design. Mode pattern obtained by scorching method shows that the mode of the output millimeter wave is TE13.
