李世普20多年来一直从事生物材料研究,完成“863”、“973”、国家自然基金重大项目等30余项。获国家发明三等奖和国家科技进步三等奖各1项,省部级一等奖2项、二等奖3项(获奖项目均排名第一),申请专利11项,撰写论文240余篇,其中被SCI、EI收录40余篇,编、译著5部,他引82次。开发具有我国知识产权产品10余种,部分已投放市场,产生明显的经济和社会效益。培养博士后、博士、硕士研究生48名,其中海外(德国)留学生1名。主要贡献有:在国内率先将高纯氧化铝陶瓷应用于医学领域,经20多年临床证明是成功的。研究具有独创设计的高纯氧化铝陶瓷复合系列人工关节,解决了金属关节易磨损等问题。研究了磷酸钙生物材料的降解、代谢及参与生命过程的途径和机理,提出了无生命材料参与构建生命组织的学术观点,至今经13年临床应用获得较好验证。提出了材料显微结构与声传导的理论公式,研制出国内独创的生物陶瓷听小骨,经6000多名患者临床应用听力基本恢复正常。较早地开展纳米粒子与肿瘤细胞相互作用的研究,探讨了纳米粒子抑制癌细胞的生物学效应,对正常细胞反应轻微的机理,提出纳米粒子阻断癌细胞DNA的复制、导致细胞增殖阻断于G1期的结论;发明一种新的复合技术,开发出新型的人工骨钉,填补了国内空白。

The metabolic way of calcium ions which was released due to in vivo degradation of porous β2TCP ceramics was studied by using the radioisotope 45Ca as tracer. The result shows that some of the calcium ions enter blood and take part in the circulation. These calcium ions distribute into organs and tissues (such as liver, kidney, brain, heart, lung, spleen and stomach) and participate in the metabolisms of body. There is neither the accumulation of calcium ions, nor the lesion or pathologic calcification of the organs and tissues. Some of the calcium ions that enter the near-end femur, ulna and skull are reused by bony tissue to take part in both local mineralization processes during bone healing, or are stored in calcium pool which can participate in the whole body circulating. In the cyclical process, other calcium ions are excreted with urine and feces through kidney and liver. It is indicated that the degradation products of β2TCP ceramics can take part in the physiological metabolic process of normal bone and tissue.

Biornedical nanometer materials are a new field of biomaterials. In this work, CaCo2 and TiO2 nanomete partcles were prepared by sol-gel and chemical homogencous precipitation reaction with ultrasonic wave irradiation. Cell proliferation was measured by MTT method. It is shown that in vitro CaCo3 particles in hibited significantly on growh and proliferation of lung cancer cells A549, but improved slightly the growth of L929 Cells. On the other hand, TiO2 Particles had the same effect of inhibition on A549 cells, however, it obviously restrained the growht of L929 SEM observation demonstrated that L929 cells fadd somehow after treatment of TiO2 particles, but the morphology of L929 cells was not changed after treatment of CaCO3 particles, A549 cells became the typical apoptosis body after treated by TiO2 and CaCO3 particels.

In the paper, the traditional preparing method of hydroxyapatite (HAP) was improved on the basis of full research for structure, charge character and adsorption character of HAP surface, Utilizing the intermittent addition method of reaction solution rather than a slow continuous oropping addition method, and controlling the pH value (7.0-7.5) and the adding order of reactants and so on, a final product the near plate and granular-like HAP can be got, The character and structure of the product were analyzed through XRD, IR and SEM, and the mechanism that CI-1 ion influences the crystallizing of HAP was discussed.

Al2O3 material was synthesized by using high purity alumina micro-powder and Mg-Zr-Y composite additives at temperature of 1600℃, which had good mechanics property of 416MPa bending strength and 5.46MPa·m1/2 fracture tough-ness. Femur head prosthesis of hip joint was prepared by using this material; Ti alloy femur handle was sprayed bioactive hy-droxyapatite (HA) by plasma on surface, which improves the chemistry stability and biocompatibility of Ti alloy; eramic-metal combination artificial hip joint femur prosthesis was made by combining Al2O3 femur head with Ti alloy femur handle, so the manufacturing process is improved and the property and application flexibility are advanced.

The citric acid sol-gel combustion method has been used for the synthesis of nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite (HAP) powder from calcium nitrate, diammonium hydrogen phosphate and citric acid. The phase composition of HAP powder was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction analysis (XRD). The morphology of HAP powder was observed by transmission electron microscope (TEM). The HAP powder has been sintered into microporous ceramic in air at 1200 8C with 3 h soaking time. The microstructure and phase composition of the resulting HAP ceramic were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and XRD, respectively. The physical characterization of open porosity and flexural strength have also been carried out.

The dissolution behavior of hydroxyapatite (HA) in a hydrothermal solution was investigated using a Morey-type autoclave over a range of 150-350℃ and a pH value range of 5-9. The results showed that the dissolubility of HA powder was determined as a function of temperature and time under constant pressure, and the temperature coefficient for the solubility of HA powder was positive. The rate of dissoluion of HA in the hydrothermal aqueous solution was mainly controlled by a polynuclear mechanism. The dissolution behavior of HA was affected mainly by the hydrothermal temperature and the dissolving activation energy. The effect of temperature was obviously more than that of the pH value of the solution. All rights reserved.

Hydroxyapatite (HA) coaited Cao-S2O2-B2O2-Na2O, glass corsposudes perparted by a hydredberimal coating micthod were soaked in four kinds of solutions to evalsiate the disslation behavior and the chemiscal stabliity, 0.5 mol/l HCI and 0.5mol/l HNO2 were used as acidic solution, and 55% physiological salarac and sodium lactate cumpound solution as the neutral physiological solution It was found that HA coated glass composites had the better chemical stablity and the conoding resistatse ability, The disoplution behavior of the HA cosaing was inairaly correlased with the phase composition of the as resistate ablilty. The sisolution behavior of the HA coating was correcalsed with the phasc conpostion of the as receited HA couting and its microstructure as well as the pH Value of the solution.
