周彤出生于1964年。1984年成都电讯工程学院本科毕业, 获工学学士学位。1994年日本大阪大学博士研究生毕业,获工学博士学位。现为清华大学自动化系教授、博士研究生导师.1984年7月~1986年9月:成都电讯工程学院助教; 1994年4月~1995年4月:电子科技大学副教授;1995年5月~1997年3月:北京航空航天大学博士后研究员;1996年1月~1996年12月:荷兰Delft工科大学作访问研究;1997年4月~1999年6月:日本东京工业大学助理教授;1999年7月~2000年7月:清华大学副教授;2000年8月至今:清华大学教授;2001年3月被批准为博士生导师.周彤长期从事系统辨识、控制系统分析与设计、信号处理等方面的理论和工业应用研究工作。曾负责多项由教育部人才基金、国家自然科学基金、博士后科学研究基金、荷兰系统与控制协会、日本国文部省科研补助金等支持的科研项目。在理论方面, 在模型集辨识与检验、鲁棒控制、1/f 信号处理等领域取得过一些国内外同行公认的理论结果。曾受邀在日本控制理论会议上以模型集辨识为题作九十分钟大会发言。在工业应用方面, 成功地实现了高温超导磁悬浮实验系统研制、磁悬浮无约束弹性梁鲁棒控制和共振抑制、多光盘位置跟踪系统鲁棒同时控制等。研究结果得到同行研究人员的广泛引用。在 IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control、IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing、Automatica 等国际自动控制和信号处理领域最具影响的学术期刊发表研究论文十余篇, 并有多篇为国际自动控制和信号处理领域的最具影响的学术期刊的正规论文。已发表的学术论文中, 有16篇为SCI光盘版收录,14篇为EI收录。在模型集辨识与鲁棒控制研究方面的系列结果获得2003 年度教育部提名国家科学技术奖自然科学奖一等奖, 获奖题目为”模型集辨识及其在控制系统综合中的应用”。

This paper investigates the consistency between frequency domain closed-loop experimental data and a model set with linear fractional unstructured uncertainties.When the number of unstable poles of the transfer function matrices (TFM) in the model set are identical, a necessary and sufficient condition is derived for the reproduction of experimental data. This condition is expressed as the non-positiveness of a quadratic form of the external disturbances and measurement errors, together with a linear constraint.In this derivation, it is not required that all the TFMs in the model set are internally stabilizable by the controller.The condition is also not necessary for the closed-loop system consisting of the nominal model and the controller to be internally stable.It is believed that this condition is theoretically and computationally attractive in model set validation, no matter whether a deterministic or stochastic framework is adopted.

This paper deals with computations and statistical properties, as well as transfer function selections involved in frequency response estimation for normalized coprime factors (NCF). A simple expression and the probability density function (PDF) are derived for the maximum likelihood estimate (MLE). It is shown that the statistical characteristics of the MLE are independent of the auxiliary plant. Based on this observation, all the coprime factors of the auxiliary transfer function have been derived which lead to an almost unbiased estimate when the noise level is low. Moreover, an analytic expression has been established for the involved free transfer functions which minimize both the bias and the variance of the estimate. This paper deals with probabilistic model set validation. It is assumed that the dynamics of a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) plant is described by a model set with unstructured uncertainties, and identi4cation experiments are performed in closed loop. A necessary and su6cient condition has been derived for the consistency of the model set with both the stabilizing controller and closed-loop frequency domain experimental data (FDED). In this condition, only the Euclidean norm of a complex vector is involved, and this complex vector depends linearly on both the disturbances and the measurement errors. Based on this condition, an analytic formula has been derived for the sample unfalsi4ed probability (SUP) of the model set. Some of the asymptotic statistical properties of the SUP have also been briefly discussed. A numerical example is included to illustrate the e6ciency of the suggested method in model set quality evaluation.

Quality assessment is investigated under a probabilistic framework in this note for a prescribed model set. The results on unfalsified probability estimation are extended from additive modeling errors to normalized coprime factor perturbations. An analytic formula has been derived for the sample unfalsified probability. It is shown that with increasing the data length, the sample unfalsified probability converges in probability to a number which is independent of experimental data. Numerical simulations show that the proposed sample unfalsified probability is appropriate in the evaluation of the quality of a model set.

The main objective of this technical note is to derive a simple necessary and sufficient condition for a linear fractional transformation (LFT) perturbed model set being consistent with frequency domain plant input-output data. Only discrete-time models and unstructured modeling errors are dealt with. Compared with the available results in which the eigenvalues of a matrix are involved, this condition is related only to the Euclidean norms of two vectors. Moreover, these vectors linearly depend on measurement errors. Some of its applications to model set validation have been briefly discussed. Based on this condition, an almost analytic solution has been established for model set validation under a deterministic framework when the measurement errors are energy bounded. Numerical simulations show that this consistency condition can lead to a significant computation cost reduction.

This paper deals with the problem of estimating the probability under which a model set is not falsified by a set of measured plant frequency response samples. A definition of sample unfalsified probability has been proposed, and an explicit formula has been derived. Computation issues are also discussed. Moreover, an ecient algorithm has been developed for sample unfalsified probability calculation. Monte Carlo simulations show that the defined sample unfalsi-fied probability is appropriate in the evaluation of the quality of a model set. Compared with the deterministic approach, simulation results suggest that the probabilistic approach is more suitable in model set validation.

In this paper, an algorithm is proposed for the identification of fractal signals with wavelet-based models from corrupted data. This algorithm is based on curve fitting and wavelet transformation. It is proved that whenever is greater than 0, the algorithm provides an almost consistent estimation. oreover, the estimated parameters are asymptotically Gaussian distributed. A mean-square asymptotic convergence rate of the estimated parameters has also been established. Simulation results verify the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

This paper deals with the problem of obtaining a plant nominal model and its error uncertainty bound when a batch of plant models is provided. While the selection of model set structure is essential and probably depends on the model intended application, in this paper it is assumed that a nominal model is perturbed by its error through a homographic transformation. A necessary and sufficient condition is obtained for a nominal model to be suboptimal. Moreover, an algorithm is proposed to obtain a nominal model which is suboptimal and has a low complexity. Furthermore, the extraction of structured nominal model errors is discussed. The efficiency of the proposed model set determination algorithm is verified through the application to the simultaneous spiral control of two compact disc players.

In this paper, the results on the parameterization of all the unfalsified models for single-input/single-output systems are extended to multi-input/multi-output systems. In this arameterization, the assumed a priori plant and noise information are upper bounds of the Hx-norm of the plant matrix-valued transfer function and the noise magnitude. The parameterization is on the basis of several series of plant time-domain identification experiment data. It is shown that for multi-input/multi-output systems, all the unfalsified plant matrix-valued transfer functions can still be expressed by the linear fractional transformation of a fixed matrix-valued transfer function and an Hx-norm bounded structure fixed, but uncertain matrix-valued transfer function. However, the high dimensions of the matrix-valued transfer functions involved in the parameterization hamper the direct application of these results to robust controller design. To overcome these difficulties, further efforts are needed.
