周济,理学博士,教授,博士生导师,清华大学新型陶瓷与精细工艺国家重点实验室副主任,国家杰出青年基金获得者(2004)。1983年毕业于吉林大学电子科学系,1986年在中国科学院长春物理研究所获理学硕士学位,1991年在北京大学化学系获理学博士学位。1991-93年在清华大学材料科学与工程系从事博士后研究;1993-95年先后在香港科技大学物理系和美国电子材料公司任研究员和材料科学家;1995年起,先后在清华大学材料系任副教授、系副主任、教授、博士生导师。兼任中国电子学会理事、中国电子学会元件分会副主任、IEEE高级会员、IEEE-UFFC北京分部主席、美国陶瓷学会会员、中国硅酸盐学会特种陶瓷分会理事等:任《电子元件与材料》杂志编委会主任、《电子元器件应用》杂志编委。多年来主要从事信息功能材料研究,目前的主要研究研究方向包括信息功能陶瓷、纳米光电材料、光子带隙材料、超材料(metamaterials)等。作为项目负责人先后主持完成过国家863计划重大项目课题、国家自然科学基金、教育部优秀青年教师基金等项目多项。发表学术论文150余篇,其中SCI收录论文100余篇,论文被他人引用近300次;获得授权发明专利8项;获得教育部提名国家科学技术奖(一等奖,第一获奖人)、中科院自然科学奖(三等)、电子工业部科技进步奖(二等)、中国电子学会电子信息科技奖(二等)等奖励。

Transparent Ag nanowire arrays embedded in anodic alumina membranes were prepared by a template-based approach combined with ac electrodeposition and subsequent etching of substrate. The optical response of the structure could be attributed to surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of Ag nanowires. When the incident light was perpendicular to the surface of the composite film, only the transverse resonant mode was excited, and a dual peak line shape appeared at about 400nm in the optical absorption spectrum. The longitudinal resonance mode appeared at a longer wavelength when polarized light illuminated the film with an angle of incidence of about 70℃, where the angle was defined with respect to the surface normal. The resonant positions and relative intensities of the two resonant modes were affected by the diameter and aspect ratio of nanowires as well as the polarization direction of incident light. In contrast to the prediction of quasistatic theory, the longitudinal resonance peak did not red shift any more while the aspect ratio was large enough.

We have investigated the structural and magnetic properties of a novel type of hexaferrite with composition of Ba3M2Fe23O41 (where M=Co and Mn) (Z hexaferrite) with tunable permeability. The material is promising for very high frequency (VHF) control when used in a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) as a tunable inductor. We substituted Mn for Co in the composition Ba3Co2 Mn Fe23O41 from X=0.0 to 1.2 to improve the inductance tunability and quality factor of the inductor material. Mn substitution had significant influence on the grain size of the sintered hexaferrites, and the coercivity was greatly reduced. The initial permeability and quality factor increased with increasing substitution of Mn for Co until reached 0.5, an effect attributed to the decrease of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant of the hexaferrite and increase of average grain size. The tunability of the samples also increased with increasing Mn substitution, reaching a maximum at X= 0.5, and then decreased with further substitution. This behavior is similar to that of the initial permeability and coercivity, and can be explained by the same mechanism.

An optically transparent Ag nanorods/AAM composite film was prepared by AC electrodeposition of Ag within the nanoporous anodic alumina membrane (AAM). Because the incident light excited different surface plasmon resonance modes along different directions, the composite film displayed an optical anisotropy for the rod-shape of Ag particles. Its three-order nonlinear optical properties were measured by z-scan technique, and the values of |Rev(3)| and |Imv(3)| were about 2.6028

(Pb,La) (Zr,Ti)O3 (PLZT) inverse opal photonic crystals were synthesized by a process of self-assembly in combination with a sol-gel technique. In this process, PLZT precursors were infiltrated into the interstices of the opal template assembled by monodisperse submicron polystyrene spheres, and then gelled in a humid environment. Polystyrene template was removed by calcining the specimen at a final temperature of 700℃ accompanied with the crystallization of perovskite phase in PLZT inverse opal network. Scanning electron microscope images show that the inverse opals possess a fcc structure with a lattice constant of 250nm. A wide photonic band gap in the visible range is observed from transmission spectra of the sample. Such PLZT inverse opals as photonic crystals should be of importance in device applications.

We present a scheme for tuning the photonic band gap (PBG) by an external electric field in a ferroelectric inverse opal structure. The inverse opals, consisting of ferroelectric (Pb,La)(Zr,Ti)O3 (PLZT) ceramics, were synthesized by a sol-gel process. Optical reflection spectra show that the PBG of the PLZT inverse opals shifts continuously with the change in the applied electric field. As the photonic crystals (PCs) consist of the high-refractive-index constituent and possess an "all-solid" structure, it should supply a more reliable mode to tune the PBG by the electric field for the superprism effect in PCs. It should be of high interest in device applications.

ZnS: Mn has been in-filled in photonic crystals of submicron polymer spheres. The effect of the photonic band gap on the photoluminescence (PL) properties of ZnS: Mn has been investigated. Because of the overlap of the transmission dip of the photonic crystal and the photoluminescence band of ZnS: Mn, both suppression and enhancement in the PL of the phosphor have been observed. A strong dependence of the fluorescence lifetime on the emission wavelength in the range of the stop band has been found. This strong dependence is believed to arise from the very low photon density of state within the stop band of the ZnS: Mn in-filled photonic crystal as result of a high dielectric contrast between ZnS: Mn and the polystyrene spheres.

A three-dimensional photonic band gap structure based on self-assembled crystals of polystyrene microspheres was fabricated by filling the pores with metallic silver. An almost complete stop band at 580-600 nm is observed in the optical transmission spectra. In comparison with pure polystyrene colloid crystals, the absorption band of Bragg diffraction in the composite was much more intense and broader, due to an enlargement of the contrast between the spheres and the background. A shift to shorter wavelengths in the band occurred because of a decrease in the average refractive index.

This letter reports the photoluminescence properties of CdSe quantum dots (QDs) embedded in a ferroelectric BaTiO3 matrix. The main emission from the samples has been assigned to the band-edge transition of QDs. With an increase in the heat treatment temperature, the emission peak has been shifted to a longer wavelength. This shift has been attributed due to the dielectric environment effects of the matrix on the electronic structure of the QDs. The dependences of the peak position on the heat-treatment temperature and dot size are found in agreement with the theoretical simulation results reported previously.

SiO2 colloid crystal infilled with BaTiO3 was synthesized by a process of self-assembly in combination of a sol-gel technique. It is found that infilling of the fully crystallized BaTiO3 into the colloid assembly can enhance the photonic band gap significantly. In the vicinity of the ferroelectric phase transition point of BaTiO3 (100-150℃), the photonic band gap of the assembly exhibits a strong temperature dependence. At the Curie point, the band gap has a 20nm redshift, and the optical transmittance reaches its minimum. Such a temperature-tuning effect in the photonic band gap should be of high interest in device applications.

Composite materials containing both ferroelectric and ferromagnetic phases have been synthesized from nanometer-sized pow-ders of BaTiO3 (ferroelectric phase) and NiCuZn ferrite (ferromagnetic phase) by a standard ceramic method. The coexistence of magnetic and electric hysteresis in the composite material has been observed at room temperature. Upon the application of magnetic and electric fields, the magnetization and electric polarization of the composite material can easily be tuned based on the changing BaTiO3 content of the materials studied. These composite materials exhibit both xcellent dielectric and soft-mag-netic properties with a variation of the frequency. Our results strongly suggest that this composite material may be the best can-didate for the development of truly integrated passive filters. Due to the combination of both inductance and capacitance in one material, the adoption of an integrated passive filter could greatly reduce the size of printed circuit boards and could effi-ciently suppress electromagnetic interference, thereby enabling significant miniaturization of electronic elements and devices.
