左如忠,籍贯江苏淮阴。博士、留德博士后、教授、博士生导师,国家教育部 “新世纪优秀人才支持计划”入选者(2008年)。2001年6月毕业于清华大学材料系,获博士学位。2001年9月-2006年12月在德国达姆斯塔特工业大学从事博士后研究。2008年3-4月和2009年2-3月于香港城市大学物理及材料科学系作高级研究访问。2006年9月由合肥工业大学引进。发表过60余篇学术论文,其中有50多篇为SCI收录,其中第一作者有40多篇,论文被引用270多次,其中他引220多次,最高单篇应用43次。其中2007年发表在Appl. Phys. Lett.上的论文(R.Z. Zuo et al, Phase Structures and Electrical Properties of New Lead Free (Na0.5K0.5)NbO3-(Bi0.5Na0.5)TiO3 Ceramics,” 90(9) 092904 (2007)被中国科学技术信息研究所评为2007度“中国百篇最具影响的国际学术论文”。承担省部级项目7项,申报了四项国家发明专利。

This paper reports on the experimental determination of the uniaxial viscosity of two commercially available low-temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) powder compacts, Ceramtape GC (glass-ceramic) and Ferro A6M (glass), by loading dilatometry. Isothermal sintering of cylindrical green compacts was carried out at temperatures ranging from 720 to 840 ?C and under varying uniaxial compressive loads of 0–50N (corresponding to 0-0.5MPa). Both instantaneous radial and axial strains were measured during sintering. These data were analyzed by usingconstitutive laws for a porous sintering body and the uniaxial viscosity was calculated as a function of relative density. The activation energy for viscosity was independent of relative density and showed an average value of 668±76 kJ/mol for the Ceramtape material but was not accessible for the Ferro material. The viscosity data were compared with several theoretical models.

A discontinuous hot forging approach was employed in this study in order to extract the temperature dependence of the constitutive sintering parameters for alumina. Uniaxial viscosity and sintering stress were both experimentally obtained as functions of density and temperature for an isotropic microstructure. The activation energy for the viscosities was determined to be approximately 480 kJ/mol by means of an Arrhenius-type plot incorporating the grain size data at varying temperatures. It was indicated that creep and densification during sintering of alumina under a small uniaxial load were both grain boundary diffusion controlled kinetic processes. The same temperature dependence of uniaxial and bulk viscosities was demonstrated, indicating that the viscous Poisson's coefficient is temperature-independent. The sintering stress of a porous compact was experimentally identified as independent of temperature, but inversely proportional to grain size, in agreement with theoretical predictions.

new hot forging apparatus has been successfully developed and applied for the experimental determination of continuum mechanical sintering parameters and theoretical modeling of thin-film sintering. A precise automatic loading system and high-resolution laser measurement system enable accurate measurement of radial and axial strains of cylindrical specimens under constant or intermittent uniaxial loads of 0-5000 Nduring high-temperature densification. Preliminary experimental results are demonstrated and the key features of technological significance in the design introduced in detail.

A loading dilatometer assisted by two high-resolution lasers was applied for the accurate measurement of radial and axial strains during uniaxial load assisted sintering. An improved hot forging technique was employed for the first time for the experimental determination of sintering stress and sintering viscosity by hot forging samples under various loads which were pre-sintered to different densities. The technique of discontinuous hot forging was discussed in detail and the effect of the developing anisotropy and different grain growth were analysed. The sintering stress and uniaxial viscosity were both obtained as functions of density ranging from 65 to 96% and compared with theoretical models. Alumina powder with a grain size of about 150 nm was used in this study.

The interfacial microstructure and cofiring migration between Ag/Pd electrode and Pb-based relaxor ferroelectric ceramics were directly investigated via transmission electron microscope and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Different silver migration abilities of 70Ag/30Pd and 90Ag/10Pd electrodes were confirmed by EDS microanalysis. This difference is generally considered to be responsible for different effects of inside electrode on the reliability of multilayer cofired devices. Further, Pb diffusion and new phase formation near the interface were detected, incorporating interfacial microstructural observation. A good consistency of direct experimental evidence to the following theoretic analyses was well combined in this paper.
