Developments in chemical multiway calibration methodologies in chemometrics that have taken place in tune with advances in modern (hyphenated) analytical instrumentation have been reviewed in this article. These advances in the ability to predict the concentration of an analyte using information-rich data collected from such instruments are outstanding examples of the philosophy of analytical method development outlined by Bruce R. Kowalski more than three decades ago. With the increase in the complexity of analytical objects, sophistication in analytical instrumentation has also been enhanced. Chemometrics classifies analytical instruments as zeroth-order, first-order, second-order, and higher-order according to the order of data that the instrument produces. Different multiway calibration methodologies have been developed to calibrate the instrument and predict the concentration of analytes. In this review, select works of Kowalski and co-workers in the context of second-order calibrations, as well as other recent developments in multiway calibration, especially the three-way and four-way calibrations, which preserve the second-order or high-order advantages, are highlighted.

The purpose of this paper is to present an overview of the recent developments in three-mode three-way trilinear component analysis with its applications in modern analytical chemistry. Emphasis is placed on the relatively new triadic algorithms that provide new ways to decompose the three-way data arrays from HPLC/DAD or two-dimensional excitation-emission fluorescence spectra, the rank estimation of three-way data as well as the uniqueness of the presentations. It has been shown that the combination of three-way data analysis methods with fluorescence spectroscopy or HPLC/DAD is a practical way to uniquely estimate the spectra and concentration of the analyte(s) of interest in the presence of the unknown interferents.

本文基于液膜(PVC膜)pH化学传惑器尤其是中性载体pH电极发展的简要回顾,结合本实验室具体工作,对设计用作氢离子选择电极中性载体的要求进行了具有指导意义的总结。对液膜电极中存在的至夸尚没能很好解释的超能斯特响应,亚能斯特响应以及酸碱误差和阳厨离子干扰等现象进行了探讨综述,建议了Nikolsky-Eisenman公式的修正式用于电极的实际响应特性的描述,同时论述了电极性能的总体优化问题。

一元或多元弱酸(碱)溶液体系存在主要由离解平衡决定的缓冲性质,而对不同PH值下缓冲容理的了解,将有助于我们对各种一元或多元弱酸(碱)缓冲性质的更好掌握,从而将对溶液平衡的深入研究,实验及教学产生实际意义。赵藻藩等[1]基于Hesse的工作[2],推出了以酸碱组分的分布系数所表示的单个多元弱酸体系的缓冲容量公式。本文进一步推导并建立了由若干个一元或多元弱酸(碱)所组成的混合溶液缓冲容量通用算法,编制了具有屏幕彩色绘图能力及较强实用性的对话式缓冲容理通用计算程序HDGABC·BAS,并用编译BASIC生成直接可执行文件HDGABC·EXE,既可方便地用于给定浓度下一元或多元弱酸(碱)水溶液的缓冲容量论计算及图示,也可用于对不同浓度下的缓冲容量作直观比较,又可用于对各种具有不同给定浓度的一元或多元弱酸(碱)所组成的混合缓冲溶液进行快速理论计算及直观图示。此外,还就程序编制、运行及使用等有关问题作了简要讨论。

本文试图将对应因子分析(CFA)与对应聚类分析(CCA)应用于中国茶叶样品化学分析数据的直接处理,以深入研傲视群雄茶叶品质与化学组成、样品来源及其它特性的相互关系。结果表明,本文方法不仅与主成分分析相当,且可获得样品与变量之间的综合化学信息,是有发展前途的化学计量学方法。

阿米洛利、心得安和潘生丁是广泛用于心血管疾病治疗的药物。其荧光光谱严重重叠,用常规方法难以同时测定。本文将基于立体阵分解的交替三线性分解算法(ATLD)与矩阵分析法相结合,对水溶液中共存的阿米洛利(AMI)、心得安(PRO)和潘生丁(DIP)进行了同时分辩和测定。其测定阵达到ng/ml级。研究结果表明,该方法实验条件简单,易于实现,说明三线性分析方法在药物分析中具有广阔的应用前景。

A modified parallel factors analysis (PARAFAC) algorithm with the penalty diagnolization error (PDE) was developed. This algorithm can overcome the slow convergence problem of the traditional PARAFAC method and is insensitive to the number of components, i.e., it is much faster than PARAFAC and insensitive to overestimation of the dimensionality of the model. The characteristic performance was demonstrated by treating simulated and real excitation-emission fluorescence data for samples of naphthalene, 1-naphthol and 2-naphthol with satisfactory results.

A three-way resolution method based on PARAFAC analysis of fluorescence excitation/emission matrices (EEMs) is presented to study the black kinetic system of simultaneous degradations of chlorophyll a and b extracted with other interferents from fresh spinach. The excitation and emission spectral profiles as well as the kinetic concentration profiles of chlorophyll a, b and their degradation products, pheophytin a, b were resolved for this multi-component kinetic system. The degradation of chlorophyll to pheophytin under the optimized experimental conditions is confirmed to follow the first-order reaction model. The most obvious advantage of this method is that the complex black multi-component kinetic system can be resolved and studied in the presence of unknown interferents by applying PARAFAC, which is capable of resolving the three-way data array provided by EEMs and giving a unique solution to the analytical problem.

A new second-order calibration procedure, the coupled vectors resolution (COVER) method, has been developed. The objective of the method is to seek a couple of vectors that minimize a least-squares criterion. With the knowledge indispensable for quantitation, the method yields direct solutions to various cases of second-order calibration. Moreover, it allows a statistically plausible way to make use of multisample information. In the case of multiple calibration samples, the method uses the calibration samples to resolve the profiles of the analytes in each order, and then calculates the concentrations of the analytes. This offers the advantage that unknown mixtures newly collected can be predicted in a direct manner. In the case of one calibration sample, the method provides an effective way to utilize the information of spectral profiles of the analytes. Results of simulated experiments and a real analytical example show that the proposed method produces acceptable performance in profile resolution and concentration estimation.
