陈金灿，曾先后获得厦门大学理论物理硕士学位和荷兰阿姆斯特丹大学物理学博士学位。1999年6月至2008年2月任厦门大学物理与机电工程学院院长。现任厦门大学特聘教授，物理学博士生导师；兼任国务院学位委员会第五、六届学科评议组(物理学、天文学评议组)成员、教育部物理专业教学指导分委员会委员、福建省物理学会理事长。长期从事本科生和研究生的教学工作和科研工作。研究内容主要包括现代热力学理论、统计物理的若干前沿课题和新能源开发应用的研究。至今已主持和参与国家自然科学基金、教育部跨世纪优秀人才培养计划、教育部科学技术重点研究项目、福建省自然科学重点基金等资助的10多个科研课题的研究工作,取得多项教学科研成果，获省部级及以上奖励7次。发表学术论文350多篇，其中210多篇论文被SCI收录、160多篇论文被EI收录；此外，1991年获福建省科协首届青年科技奖，1993年享受国务院特殊津贴，1997年入选国家教委跨世纪优秀人才培养计划，1998年获省教委和省人事厅授予的省优秀教师称号，2002年获省优秀专家称号。

The thermostatistic properties of a qgeneralized boson system trapped in an ndimensional harmonic oscillator potential are studied, based on the generalized statistic distribution derived from Tsallis' entropy. The density of states, total number of particles, critical temperature at which BoseEinstein condensation occurs, internal energy, and heat capacity at constant volume are derived. The characteristics of BoseEinstein condensation of the system are discussed in detail. It is found from the results obtained here that the thermostatistic properties of such a system depend closely on parameter q, dimensional number of the space, and frequency of the harmonic oscillator; and the external potential has a great influence on the thermostatistic properties of the system.

The cycle model of a regenerative quantum heat engine working with many nonineracting harmonic oseillators is established. The cycle consists of two isothermol and two constantfrequency processes. The performance of cycle is investigated, based on the quantum master eqution and semigrop approach. The inherent regenerative losses in the two constantfrequency processes are calculated. The expressions of several important performance paramketers cases. Especially, the optimal performance of the cycle in htghtemperature limit derived for several intersting cases. Especially, the optimal perfomance of the cycle in higttemperature limit is discussed in detail. The maximum power output and the corresponding parameters are calculated. The optimal region of the efficiency and the optimal ranges of the temperatures of the working substance in the two isothermal processes are determined.

The cycle model of a quantum refrigerator composed of two isothermal and two isomagnetic field processes is established. The working substance in the cycle consists of many noninteracting spin 1 2 systems. The performance of the cycle is investigated, based on the quantum master equation and semigroup approach. The general expressions of several important performance parameters, such as the coefficient of performance, cooling rate, and power input, are given. Especially, the case at high temperatures is analyzed in detail. The results obtained are further generalized and discussed, so that they may be directly used to describe the performance of the quantum refrigerator using spinJ systems as the working substance. Finally, the optimum characteristics of the quantum Carnot refrigerator are derived simply.

The thermodynamic properties of a qgeneralized ideal boson system with the general energy spectrum ε=aps in a Ddimensional space are investigated, based on the qgeneralized statistical distributive function derived by Tsallis entropy. Several important parameters of the system such as the critical temperature tha BoseEinstein condensation (BEC) occurs, the specifie heat at constant volume, etx. are derived analytically. It is found that the conditions that BEC may occur and the continuity of the specific heat at critical temperature are the same as those of an ordinary boson system. However, the thernodynamic properties of a qgeneralized ideal boson system are closely depend on q and D/s and consequently there are some novel results.

The performance of a multicouple thermoelectric device as a generator is inverstigated. The general expressions of two important performance parameters, the efficeiency and power output, are given. The ηK characteristic curves of a thermoelectric generator are presented for some differently constrained conditions, where η is the efficiency of the thermoelectric system and K is total thermal conductance of the multicouple thermoelectric device. The mazimum efficeiency of the system if calculated. The structure parameters of the device are optimized. The effect of the thermal conductances between the thermoelectric device and the external heat reservoirs on the performance of the system is expounded by using some representative numerical examples. The results obtained here will be useful for a more detiled investigation and for the optimal design of real thermoelectric generators.

A thermodynamic model including four irreversiblilities is used to investigate the optimal Performance a solardriven thermoelectric generator. The efficiency of the system is derived and taken as and objective function for optimiztion. Some important curves, such as the efficiency of the system versus the operating temperature of the solar collector, the reduced current, and the load resistance, are obtained. These curves can reveal the performance charaterisistics of solardriven thermoelectric generators. the maximum efficeiency of the system and the corresponding reduced current are derived for some special cases. The optimal matching of load resistance which is one of the kdy problems in the optimal design of solardriven thermoelectric generators is discussed. New bounds of the key performance parameters, such as the efficiency, power output, and load resistance, are determined.

On the basis of the probability distribution of the various values of the fluctuation and the fundamental equation of thermodynamics of any given system, a simple and useful method of calculating the fluctuations is presented. By using the method, the fluctuations of thermodynamic quantities can be directly determined from the fundamental equation of thermodynamics. Finally, some examples are given to illustrate the use of the method.

A detailed study on global oceanic precipitation is carried out using the simultaneous TOPEX and TMR (TOPEX Microwave Radiometer) data. It is motivated by he success of a series of feasibility studies based on a few years of TOPEX TMR data, and the availability of a deeadeIong new dataset thai spans I9922002. In this context, a previously proposed rain probability index is improved by taking into account the dirtfference ol the dynamic range of the TOPEXmeasured backscatter coefficients at the Ku and C hands and the lalitudinally complementary sensitivities of the TOPEX and TMR rain detections, leading to a refined joint precipitation index, which is generally consistent and quantitatively comparable with existing precipitation ciimatologies from the Global Preelpitation Climatology Project (GPCP) and the Comprehensive OceanAtmosphere Data Set (COADS). The new TOPEXTMR precipitation climatology, on the one hand. confirms the fundamental features of global oceanic rainfall with additional details, and, on the other hand, reveals a number of interesting characteristics that are previously unknown or pnorly defined. 1) The spatial variability of the western Pacific "rain pool" (the atmospheric counterpart of the oceanic warm pool) is characterized by an interannual zonal migration, an annual cycle of meridional seesaw, and a semiannual cycle of expansion and shrinking. 2) The Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Ocean interropical convergence zones (ITCZs) all have all annual cycle of crossbasin oscillation with east and west slops in JJA and DJE respectively. 31 A welldefined prominent rainy zone is observed in the southeast China Seas sound Taiwan Island, connecting with the Pacific rain pool in the south. 4) Between El Nifio and La Nina years, there is a systematic sign reversal of the geographical distribution of precipitation anomaly, which exists globally rather than in the tropical oceans only. 5) On a global basis, interannual and annual precipitation variabilities are of the same magnitude, bul the interannual (annual) component is more important for the Southern (Northern) Hemisphere. 6) For the tropical oceans, "season" defined by rainfall usually has a one quarter delay with respect to the coaesponding meteorological season. For the "'marine deserts" in the subtropical oceans, however, the ralnbased season is found to be anticorrelated with the meteorological season. In addition, the annual cycle of the Atlantic precipitation is nearly 180 out of phase with respeet to thin of the Pacific and Indian Ocean for the same hemisphere.

In this paper, the equivalent combined systems of threeheatsource heat pumps are studied. It is pointed out that there may be three combined ways for us to conceive a reversible threeheatsource heat pump as a combined system having a reversible Carnot heat pump driven by a reversible Carnot engine. Whereas for an endoreversible threeheatsource heat pump affected by the heat resistances, there is only one combined way for us to conceive it as a combined system having an endoreversible Carnot heat pump driven by an endoreversible Carnot engine. Then, the fundamental optimum formula of a threeheatsource heat pump is derived simply and directly by using those of twoheatsource cycles. The optimal peformance of an endoreversible threeheatsource heat pump is thus discussed. The inherent relation between the twoand the threeheatsource cycles as well as the fundamental distinction between the reversible and the endoreversible threeheatsource cycles is also revealed. These results may enrich the theory of finite time thermodynamics, and provide some new theoretical bases for the exploitation and application of threeheatsource apparatus such as chemical heat pumps, absorption heat pumps, and so on.

We investigate the performance of a class of endoreversiblecombined refrigeratkm cycles operating between a lowtemperature heat reservoir at TL and a hightemperature heat reservoir at TH, and derive the optimal configuration and the rdation between the optimal coefficient of performance and the rate of refrigeration of these cycles. It is shown that the relation is similar to that of an optimal endoreversible refrigeration cycle. However, it is worth noticing that the overall heat resistace of a combined endoreversible refrigeration cycle is not identical with that of a single one, so that they are somewhat different from each other in performance. Simukaneously, it is pointed out that some performances of an endoreversible refrigeration cycle are quite different from those of an endoreversibIe power cycle.
