In this paper, a new type of radio frcquency (RF) excited diffusively cooled all-metal slab waveguide CO2 laser is presented, in which the waveguide channel is constructed by two aluminum side walls and two aluminum electrodes, the discharge is confined in the slab waveguide channel in terrns of the voltage division structure. From this type of structure, 127-W laser power is obtained.

In this letter, we describe a kilowatt radio frequency discharge excited diffusively cooled slab wavegnide carbon monoxide laser, in which the top and bottom electrodes were cooled with liquid nitrogen and which utilized a modified resonator. With this design we obtained a maximum laser power output of 1020W, which was 10% higher than the same device employing a conventional unslable resonator.

By solving the extended Boltzmann equation and the eletron number balance equation, we obtained the electron energy distribution functious (EEDFs) and the electronic excitation rates in the discharge ofthe radi frequeney (RF) transverse excited intermediate presure waveguide heliumaeon. The population densities of the upper laser level Ne 3S2 for O.6328pm lazing and 3.39μm lasiug have been determined by solving the rate enqations The resultsindicate that under the proper operating conditions the population densities of Ne 3S2 of the RF transverse excited waveguide He-Ne laser can be increed by almost 0ne order compared to that of a traditional longitudinal-excited capillary discharge helium-n 1aser under typical working con-ditions The incree of input power density and active discharge fscaling techniquel has been proved to be reliable way to Incre the output power of the RF transve exeited wavegulde atomic lasers.

The electron distribution functions (EEDFs) in a radio frequency transverse discharge excited waveguide helium-neon laser and the population inversion of the relative laser level have been obtained by numerically solving the Boltzmann equation and the coupled rate equations. The results have indicated that RF transverse discharge excited hilium-neon lasers at intermediate gas pressures are suitable systems to produce a high population inversion between Ne (2S2) and Ne (2P4) for 1.15μm CW lasing, but cannot form the population inversion between Ne (3S2) and Ne (2P4) for 0.6328μm CW lasing-the population inversion between Ne (3S2) and Ne (3P4) for 3.39μm CW lasing only exists in the positive column bulk discharge region.

We report the design and performance characteristics of a carbon dioxide laser excited by a radial radiofrequencystatic gas discharge. Power extraction of 20W is obtamed using a multipass optical system. Matched to a 13cm long annular discharge gain region, within a linear stable resonator.

The characteristics of transverse of discharges andtheimage rolation properties of such resonators indicate that this approach may bcaiableto providemuch higherlaser powers with excell enttransvcl mode properties.

In this letter, an rf.excded, anodized aluminum structure waveguide CO2 laser is presented, which has the advantages of Low cost, better cooling, and ease of manufacture. With this structure, we have oblained 12W EH waveguide mede output power from only a 300mm gain length.
