范洪义教授,理论物理学家,男,出生于1947年9月,1964年考入中国科技大学,1978年中国科大近代物理系研究生,1982年获理学博士学位(国内首批18名博士之一)。1973年以来在中国科大物理系任助教、副教授、1989年升为教授,1993年被国务院学位委员会评为博士生导师。意大利国际理论物理中心协联成员;美国名人传记学院顾问。1998年获教育部科学技术进步一等奖(个人获得)。美国名人传记学院授予范洪义2004年美国荣誉勋章。1991年范洪义被国家教委授予"有突出贡献的中国博士"。曾在加拿大New Brunswick 大学,美国New York 大学、Rochester大学、阿肯色大学、休斯顿大学、Florida大学、拉斯维加斯大学,奥地里Innsbrook大学讲学访问,并在1993年美国召开的国际相干态会议任顾问。
从1992年到2002年有10次进入全国个人发表SCI系统论文数排序前三名,其中7次第一名,一次第二名。共发表SCI 系统论文370余篇(其中5篇为Review Papers),被引用篇数在1999年,2000年,2001年和2002年列全国第一名。范教授另辟蹊径提出了有序算符内的积分理论(IWOP)发展和完善了狄拉克(Dirac)量子力学中的符号法,把对经典函数的牛顿-莱布尼兹积分理论推广到对于由连续态右矢和左矢所组成的投影算符积分,把寓于Dirac符号法中深层次的物理内涵与应用潜力揭示出来,在看似已臻完美的量子力学理论体系中开辟了一个新的研究方向,使符号法更完美更实用,进一步体现符号法的强大生命力和永恒的科学价值,验证了Dirac所说的“符号法正在开创某种将来可能永垂不朽的东西”。出版三部专著:《量子力学表象与变换论》、《量子力学纠缠态表象及应用》和《从量子力学到量子光学》。中国科学报,科技日报,香港大公报都报道过其科研成果。

finite temperature we construct a new thermal excitation representation |E,g>, which is the common eigenvector of Hamiltonian operator of total system (including the reservoir) and the operator (α(β)−ã†(β))(α†(β)−ã(β)), where α†(β) (ã†(β)) creates a quantum of energy hω(β) (−hω(β)), respectively, β=ãh/kT, k is the Boltzmann constant. The explicit from of |E,g> is derived by virtue of the common eigenvector α(β)− ã†(β) and α†(β)− ã(β). The thermo excitation and de-excitation operations are manifestly displayed in |E,g> representation. As an application, the |E,g> representation of thermal squeezing operator is obtained.

In similar to the relation between the coherent state and the Bargmann transform, we find a generalized Bargmann transformation naturally accompanying Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) entangled state of continuous variables. The new Bargmann transform kernel is introduced which can naturally lead to the entangled state. The generalized Bargmann representation of two-mode Fock state is a two-variable Hermite polynomial.

We propose a concise quantization scheme for mesoscopic electric circuits which is in accord with the discreteness of electric charge. Our scheme is based on finding the correct explicit form of charge ascending and lowering operators. The charge eigenstate are derived from the appropriate entangled state representation. We show how the entangled state representation can play the role of constructing a concise and natural quantization scheme for mesoelectronics.

We develop Dirac's representation theory in quantum mechanics by constructing the nonlinear entangled state |η nl and its non-Hermite conjugate state nl η| with continuum variable. By virtue of the technique of integration within an ordered product of operators we show that |η nl and nl η| make up an orthonormal and complete representation. From |η nl we also deduce another kind of entangled states. Application of |η nl in studying two-mode squeezed state is demonstrated.

By analogy with the number-difference-phase theory in quantum optics, we introduce nonlinear Bose operator to represent the phase across Josephson junction, and build a bosonic operator Josephson qubit model, which establish itself firmly on the ground of charge state representation and phase state representation. The operator version of Josephson equations are also obtained.

Via the route of developing Dirac's symbolic method by virtue of the technique of integration within an ordered product (IWOP) of operators we derive various entan-gled state representations, squeezed states, and operator ordering formulae. We show how the entangled states can be applied to many aspects of quantum optics theory. The applications of the entangled states in the interdisciplinary study of quantum optics and Fourier optics are also introduced. All these discussions exhibit the power of Dirac's symbolic method with the aid of the IWOP technique.

We present a general unified approach for arranging quantum operators of optical fields into ordered products (normal ordering, antinormal ordering, Weyl ordering (or symmetric ordering)) by fashioning Dirac's symbolic method and representation theory. We propose the technique of integration within an ordered product (IWOP) of operators to realize our goal. The IWOP makes Dirac's representation theory and the symbolic method more transparent and consequently more easily understood. The beauty of Dirac's symbolic method is further revealed. Various applications of the IWOP technique, such as in developing the entangled state representation theory, nonlinear coherent state theory, Wigner function theory, etc, are presented.

We employ the EPR eigenstate representation |η and the operational phase operator to propose a protocol of quantum dense coding. We find that the coherent thermal state |η(H.-y. Fan et al., Phys. Lett. A 246 (1998) 242) can provide a new approach for studying quasi-probability distribution of density operators and their time evolution. This approach is convenient and concise because the |η state possesses well-behaved properties and is based on the thermal field dynamics.
