【期刊论文】Resource allocation in full-duplex communications for future wireless networks

IEEE Wireless Communications,2015,22(4): 88 - 96

2015年08月27日

摘要

The recent significant progress in realizing FD systems has opened up a promising avenue for improving quality of service and quality of experience in future wireless networks. There is an urgent need to address the diverse set of challenges regarding different aspects of FD network design, theory, and development. In addition to the self-interference cancellation signal processing algorithms, network protocols such as resource management are also essential in the practical design and implementation of FD wireless networks. This article aims to present the latest development and future directions of resource allocation in different full duplex systems by exploring the network resources in different domains, including power, space, frequency, and device dimensions. Four representative application scenarios are considered: FD MIMO networks, FD cooperative networks, FD OFDMA cellular networks, and FD heterogeneous networks. Resource management problems and novel algorithms in these systems are presented, and key open research directions are discussed.

【期刊论文】Contract-Based Incentive Mechanisms for Device-to-Device Communications in Cellular Networks

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications,2015,33(10):2144 - 215

2015年05月20日

摘要

Device-to-device (D2D) communication is viewed as one promising technology for boosting the capacity of wireless networks and the efficiency of resource management. D2D communication heavily depends on the participation of users in sharing contents. Thus, it is imperative to introduce new incentive mechanisms to motivate such user involvement. In this paper, a contract-theoretic approach is proposed to solve the problem of providing incentives for D2D communication in cellular networks. First, using the framework of contract theory, the users' preferences toward D2D communication are classified into a finite number of types, and the service trading between the base station and users is properly modeled. Next, necessary and sufficient conditions are derived to provide incentives for users' engagement in D2D communication. Finally, our analysis is extended to the case in which there is a continuum of users. Simulation results show that the contract can effectively incentivize users' participation, and increase capacity of the cellular network than the other mechanisms.

【期刊论文】Full duplex cognitive radio: a new design paradigm for enhancing spectrum usage

IEEE Communications Magazine,2015,53(5): 138 - 145

2015年05月14日

摘要

With the rapid growth of demand for ever increasing data rates, spectrum resources have become more and more scarce. As a promising technique to increase the efficiency of the spectrum utilization, cognitive radio has great potential to meet such a requirement by allowing unlicensed users to coexist in licensed bands. In conventional CR systems, spectrum sensing is performed at the beginning of each time slot before data transmission. Unfortunately, this results in two major problems: transmission time reduction due to sensing, and sensing accuracy impairment due to data transmission. To tackle these problems, in this article we present a new design paradigm for future CR by exploring full duplex techniques to achieve simultaneous spectrum sensing and data transmission. With FD radios equipped at secondary users (SUs), the SUs can simultaneously sense and access the vacant spectrum, and thus significantly improve sensing performance while increasing data transmission efficiency. The aim of this article is to transform the promising conceptual framework into a practical wireless network design by addressing a diverse set of challenges such as protocol design and theoretical analysis. Several application scenarios with FD-enabled CR are elaborated, and key open research directions and novel algorithms in these systems are discussed.

【期刊论文】Multiact Dynamic Game Strategy for Jamming Attack in Electricity Market

IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid ,2015,6(5):2273 - 228

2015年02月26日

摘要

As the current power grid system is upgrading to the smart grid, it becomes more vulnerable to security attacks on its communication subsystem such as the denial-of-service attack. Jamming, as a kind of denial-of service attack, can be applied to interfere the real-time communication in smart grid. In this paper, we analyze the scenario in which the attacker can jam a reduced number of signal channels carrying measurement information in order to manipulate the locational marginal price and create the opportunity for gaining profit, and the defender is able to guarantee a limited number of channels in information delivery. Based on the electricity marketing model, we propose a multiact dynamic game between the attacker and defender, in which the optimal strategies are taken by the two sides to maximize their own profits. We study the gaming process and discuss the prosperities of the outcome. Simulation results present the affect of jamming attack on the electricity prices and the gained profits of the two sides. Moreover, they confirm the optimality of the proposed scheme in pursuing profit.

【期刊论文】Multi-gigabit millimeter wave wireless communications for 5G: from fixed access to cellular networks

IEEE Communications Magazine ,2015,53(1):168 - 178

2015年01月16日

摘要

With the formidable growth of various booming wireless communication services that require ever increasing data throughputs, the conventional microwave band below 10 GHz, which is currently used by almost all mobile communication systems, is going to reach its saturation point within just a few years. Therefore, the attention of radio system designers has been pushed toward ever higher segments of the frequency spectrum in a quest for increased capacity. In this article we investigate the feasibility, advantages, and challenges of future wireless communications over the E-band frequencies. We start with a brief review of the history of the E-band spectrum and its light licensing policy as well as benefits/challenges. Then we introduce the propagation characteristics of E-band signals, based on which some potential fixed and mobile applications at the E-band are investigated. In particular, we analyze the achievability of a nontrivial multiplexing gain in fixed point-to-point E-band links, and propose an E-band mobile broadband (EMB) system as a candidate for the next generation mobile communication networks. The channelization and frame structure of the EMB system are discussed in detail.
