The growth process, palacoccological fcatures and the function of organisms in reef-building of the Jukoupu bioherm in Hunan are discussed in detall. The bioherm is divided into 10 microfacies. Organisms are very abundant in the reef. Thirty-two genera belonging to 7 phyta have been recognized. They make up 5 communities composed mainly fo stromatopoies, corals and algae, each of which has its own salient ecological features. An analysis of all communities shows that the organic functions are very comples. The same organisms may possess diverse may involve five stages; (1) biostrome stage, (2) stabilization stage, (30 frame-type reef-building stage, (4) binding and covering-type-reef-building stage, and (5) baffle-type reef-building stage

A large number of enantionithine birds are discovered from the Early Cretaceous Jiufutang Formation in western Liaoning, China. They are all small-sized birds with a few small tecth. The enantirnithine bird from the Jiufutang Formation in the Shangheshou area, Chaoyang, Liaoning Province reported in this paper is the largest individual known in all enantiornithine birds of the Early Cretaceous, Hower, its teeth posses a feature of pseudoheterodont. Some different development stages of the new teeth substiute the earlier stages and the stages of development are preserved in this speciment. T

A typical reef occurs in the eastern part of south Qinling Mountains in Sanlixia, Xunyang, Shaanxi Province. The reef, extending in north-south direction, was built up by various kinds of calcareous tubes including Girvanella, tubular cyanobacteria and problem microbials. The bioclastic bank, built up by algal clasts, foraminiferous, and fusulinids, formed the reef basement, on which dasyclads baffle bioclasts formed the original bafflestone at a small scale on the reef base ment, and then a mass of bindstone was made up by all kinds of calcareous tubes and algae. On lateral part the reef is cryptalgal mudstone. The reef that occurred in the geosynclinal area is so familiar with one of the platforms in many respects, such as in reef structure, morphology and building mold. This indicates that building organisms have amazing adaptability and identity for building capacity in the two kinds of geotectonic background mentioned above.

Alarge number of coral fossils such as Arachnastraea, Chaetetes and Mulithecopora have been found in the marine strata of the upper part of the Carboniferous Benxi Formation in the eastern part of North China. The coral fossils are so abundant that they form coral limestones in some outcrops. These limestiones almost made up a rock belt, in which coral reefs are formed in some sections [1]. The occurrrence of the belt provides improtant information for understanding of the history of the Middle and Late Carboniferous in the eastern part of North China.
