摘要

Large quantities of carbon onions with high purity were synthesized by radio-frequency plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The produced carbon onions are solid, clean and can be separated easily from the catalytic particles. The formation of onions is based on the formation of many cages in successive stages from the core to the surface. Around the edge of a carbon onion, discontinuous curved lines are shown in the high-resolution TEM image, reflecting the wavy behavior of carbon onions.

摘要

Vapor-grown of segmented graphite nanofibers were prepared by pyrolysis of acetylene at 600 800C using a foam Ni catalyst. Through transmission electron microscopy observation, it was found that this kind of nanofiber looks like a line of lens-like segments with nearly equal separation, which consist of well-ordered graphite platelets intermittently stacked perpendicularly to the filament axis. It was suggested that the catalyst particles adopting a thin slice shape and the flow rate of acetylene are critical for forming segmented graphite nanofibers. The formation mechanism of segmented graphite nanofibers has also been discussed.

摘要

Nickel composites containing carbon nanotubes were prepared by codepositing carbon nanotubes uspended in an electrolyte with growing nickel during electrodeposition. There is a saturation concentration for dispersing carbon nanotubes completely in the solution. Carbon nanotubes codeposition was found to reach a maximum and then decrease with carbon nanotubes concentration in the solution, current density and agitation rate. The microstructure of the coatings have been examined by electron microscopy.

摘要

Ni-carbon nanotube (CNTs) composite coatings were deposited on a carbon steel by electrodeposition. The effect of incorporation of CNTs into the nickel coating on the morphology of the coating surface and corrosion properties was investigated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that the CNTs appear well dispersed in the nickel layer. Corrosion tests were performed in aqueous NaCl (3.5wt.%) using a weight loss method and electrochemical measurements for bare, pure nickel coated and CNTs-nickel coated samples. The results showed that addition of CNTs in the deposition process of nickel significantly increased the resistance to corrosion. The anti-corrosion mechanism of the composite coating is also discussed.
