Jiangsu ProvinceisoneoftheplannedstrategicareasforwindpowerdevelopmentinChina, butits current developmentofwindpowerindustryisnotsooutstanding. Since, Jiangsuwouldencounterlittle market resistance, thispaperfocusesontheevaluationofresourcecapacityforwindpower development inJiangsuProvince, includingthewindenergycapacity, landresourcescapacityand powergridcapacity, inordertofindtheirsupportiveorrestrictiveeffectsonthedevelopmentofwind powerindustry. TheresultsshowthatthewindenergyresourceinJiangsuProvincearesufficientto meet theneedsofthedevelopmentofwindfarms; theextensivemudflatinthecoastalareasalso providesidealsiteconditionsforwindfarms;butthepowergridcapacityisinsufficientforthewind powerdevelopmentinJiangsu. Therefore, fromtheaspectofenhancingthecapacityofpowergridfor carryingwindpowerandfromtheotheraspectofcombiningthenon-grid-connectedutilizationand the large-scalestorageofwindpower, thispapersuggestssomestrategiestoovercometheconstraints of gridcapacityandpromotingthewindpowerdevelopmentinJiangsuProvince.
