In this paper, we introduce the notion of Minkowski symmetric Lie algebras to give an algebraic description of symmetric Berwald spaces. As an application, we study some geometric properties of these spaces. In particular, we generalize an elegant result of E. Cartan on the sectional curvature of Riemannian symmetric spaces to the ag curvature of symmetric Berwald spaces.

摘要

We prove that the group of isometries of a Finsler space is a Lie transformation group on the original manifold. This generalizes the famous result of Myers and Steenrod on a Riemannian manifold and makes it possible to use Lie theory onthe study of Finsler spaces.
