Study of Penetration Boundary Conditions in Percussive Rock Drilling*

This paper makes a synthetic analysis on the varying laws of four parameters of force, velocity, dis-placement and momentum, and indicates that rock fragmenting is not instantaneously produced but is bya process of accumulative damage. The relationship between incident waveform and force-displacementcharacteristics is also inquired into in this paper, and then it is proposed that conditions at the bit-rockinterface can be represented with displacement-impulse relationship.
