Bimorph-type bending actuators have been widely used in many applications aS converlel as of electric input to mechanical motion or vice vcrsa. In this papm a new piezoelectric ic model ol a multilayer piezoelectric cantilevel is obtained, and the analytic expressions for the curvature, displacement and tip-dcllectiun of the multilayer sl rttCttlre arc dcnvcd m Inc static state. With the use of this model and the solution, the tIp-deflections of the piezoelectric bimorph canti lever in difierent WOl'king slluatlons are coInpared and the effect of the metal electrodes on the tip-deflection ot tim cantilever iS considered. The above-mentioned methods and conclusions can be used fo, optimized design of PZT cantilever structure.
