This paper presents an engineering geology evaluation method based on an artificial neural network (AN2EGEM). This method eliminates the defects of traditional engineering geology evaluation methods, which rely excessively on experience and are difficult to quantify. The paper also introduces the modeling of AN2EGEM and gives examples to testify that AN2EGEM is simple, real-time, quantitative, self-adaptable and quite effective. Therefore it will have wide prospects for application.
