Two new triterpenoid saponins, quinovic acid–3–O-6–deoxy-β–D-glucopyranoside, 28–β–D– glucopyranosyl ester and quinovic acid–3–O–α–L–rhamnopyranosyl-(4→1)–β–D–glucopyrano- side, along with three known saponins, have been isolated from the EtOAc extracts of the dried stems of N. sessilifolia Merr. Structure elucidation of 1-3 was based on NMR, MS, IR and chemical analysis.

Two new triterpenoid saponins, cincholic acid-3-O-β-D-xylopyranoside, 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (1), quinovic acid-28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester ( 4), and a new phenolic glucoside, 4-[ 4′-O-( 2′, 3′, 5′, 6′-tetrahydroxy phenyl)-β-D-glucoside]-1-butene (2), along with five known triterpenoid saponins and one phenolic glucoside were isolated from the n-butanol fraction of the stems of Luculia pinciana Hook. Their structures were established by means of spectroscopic methods.

Three new compounds, 2-methoxy-3,4-(methylenedioxy) benzophenone (1), 4-hydroxy-2,3-dimethoxybenzophenone (2), and 3-hydroxy-4,6-dimethoxy-9H-xanthen-9-one (3), besides three known compounds were isolated from the roots of Securidaca inappendiculata. Their structures were established by spectroscopic means and X-ray crystallographic diffraction analysis. The biogenetic relationships among these six compounds are discussed.
