以白光麦克尔逊干涉仪对双折射保偏光纤的偏振耦合进行测试,并基于仪器结构建立了测试扫描结果的数学模型,分析及仿真了信噪比对耦合强度及耦合位置检测的影响大小及变化趋势。信噪比大于32Db,可满足偏振耦合测试的要求。

In this paper, white light interferometry has been used to measure the distributed polarization coupling in high birefringence fibres. Detailed theoretical analysis of the measurement accuracy of the testing system is presented. The main part is a Michelson interferometer with a scanning arm driven by a stepping motor. The minimum polarization coupling intensity detectable by this system is -77dB. The maximum fibre length that can be tested under this design is more than 1km, and the spatial resolution is better than 50mm. The influence of the opto-electro-mechanical devices on measurement accuracy has been analysed in order to improve the performance-to-cost ratio. This testing system can also be used in coherence division multiplexing optical fibre sensors.

This paper descrities the dual layer scalable optical interconnentcion nitwork being developed at Tianjin University. The layer of the network is a multiwavelength bidirectional optical bus. Which has large bandwidth and low latency, The bus is made up of passive components. No wavelength-tunable devices are used As a result, the bus ponents. No wavelength-tunable devices are used As a result, the bus has a low communication latency that is mainly determined by the optical fiber length. The optical fiber length. The sublayer of the network is a single-wavelength ring, which has low communication latency and high scalability. In each ring. a wavelength routing node is designed for data transmission between the ring and the optical bus. Each node computer is connected to the ring throuth an optical network interface card. The communication latency inside the ring is decreased by using synchronous pipelining transmission.

In this paper, a novel method to measyre the distributed polarization mode coupling in poladzation-maintaining (PM) fibers is introduced. The measuement system is based on white light interference. A super luminescent diode is used as the broadband light source in the system, The whole test system is working on 130Ohm wavelength. There are two main palls of the measurement equipment: poladzation adjustment and a scanned Micbelson interferometer. In order to improve the accuracy, a piezoelectric transducer (PZT) is applied in the scanned Micbelson interferometer. The maximum length of tested polafizadon-maintnining fiber is one kilometer, and the spatial resolution of this method reacbed 60mm along the tested PM fiber, The degree of polarization mode coupling that could be detected is-75dB.

The hardware and the communimtion protocol of a statable optical ring have been designed. A hoxdware routing has been achieved on the network interface card to minimize data paeket communieation latency and a simplified communication protocol has been designed to reduce communication overheads. To reduce the data packet bilking probability and have a more efficient umgn of the data link layer bandwidth, a virtuaI multi channel transmimion mechanism has been achieved. The network supports a maximum of 16 virtual channds for each physical data link, Time slots can be dynamically assigned to each virtual channel. Zero wait time has been achieved for the switching between different virtual channels.
