High-spin states in doubly odd 170Re have been populated via the 142Nd(32S, p3nγ) reaction at beam energies of 155 and 166 MeV. K X-γ and γ-γ coincidences have been measured using a detector array consisting of 12 high-purity germanium detectors with BGO suppressors. A rotational band is identified and assigned to 170Re for the first time. This band is proposed to be built on the πh11/2⊗νi13/2 two-quasiparticle configuration by comparing the band properties with known bands in neighboring nuclei and the cranked-shell model calculations.

High spin states in 178Ir have been studied via the 152Sm (31P,5nγ) 178Ir reaction through excitation functions, X-γ and γ-γ-t coincidence measurements. According to the band structure characteristics and the measured intraband B(M1)/B(E2) ratios, two rotational bands are identified and assigned to be associated with the πh9/2⊗νi13/2 and πh11/2⊗νi13/2 configurations, respectively. Both bands show the signature inversion feature.

High spin states in 174Re have been investigated via the 152Sm (27Al, 5nγ) 174Re reaction. Gamma-ray excitation functions, x-γ and γ-γ coincidences have been measured. Two rotational bands built on the πh9=2⊗νi13=2 and πh11=2⊗νi13=2 con gurations have been identi ed and extended up to high-spin states. The relative spin and parity of the band levels have been unambiguously xed due to observations of several inter-band transitions. Both the bands show the low-spin signature inversion, which is consistent with systematic expectations for the high-j two-quasiparticle bands in the A=170 mass region.

Excited states of 142Ce, populated in deep inelastic reactions of 82Se projectiles bombarding 139La target, have been studied up to medium spins using in-beam γ spectroscopy techniques. Three new levels have been identified at 2625, 2995, 3834 keV, and assigned as 8+, 9(−) and 11(−), respectively. These new yrast states follow closely the level systematics of the even mass N=84 isotones. Their strctures have been discussed with the help of empirical shell model calculations.

High-spin states in 190Tl have been studied experimentally by using the 160Gd(35Cl,5n) fusion-evaporation reaction at beam energies of 167 and 175 MeV. A rotational band built on the πh9/2⊗νi13/2 configuration with oblate deformation has been established for 190Tl. Spin values are assigned by adopting the results from α-γ decay work for 194Bi found in the literature.With the configuration and spin-parity assignments, the low-spin signature inversion has been revealed for the πh9/2⊗νi13/2 oblate band in 190Tl. It is the first experimental observation of low-spin signature inversion for a band associated with the oblate πh9/2⊗νi13/2 configuration. The low-spin signature inversion for the oblate πh9/2⊗νi13/2 band can be interpreted by the two-quasiparticle-plus-rotor model including a J-dependent p-n residual interaction.
