【期刊论文】Compression Force Measured by Fiber Optic Smart Cellular Textile Composites

This paper is concerned with a study of compression force measured by smart cellular textile composites integrated with fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors. The novel design of the cellular textile composite structures integrated with FBG sensors is reported. Unit ceils of a cylindrical composite shell are fabricated from glass and polyester woven fabrics and epoxy, and are used to measure compression loads. When the composite shell unit is under pressure, the axial strain induced in the FBG sensor can be determined by the Bragg wavelength shift obtained fi' om an optic spectrum analysis. A theoretical analysis of the fiber' s axial strain focuses on compression load. The influences of environmental tem-perature, thickness, and effective moduli of the composites, and position and direction of the FBG sensors are discussed. The sensitivity of this device is 0.42nm/N (for the polyester composite) and 0.29nm/N (for the glass composite), and the measurement range is 0-2.1 N (PET) and 0-1.3 N (glass), respectively.

Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) is used to study the effect of surface charge on electrospinning by adding LiCl. The theoretical analysis shows that the relationship between radius r of jet and the axial distance z from nozzle follows an allometric law in the form r~z-0.5 in case of full surface charge, and the scaling exponent becomes larger for partly charged fibers in electrospinning.

Electrospinning is a novel process for producing superfine fibers by forcing a polymer melt or solution through a spinnerette with an electric field. Application of vibration technology in polymer processes such as injection molding, extrusion and compression molding/thermoforming proved that it works well in reduction of melt viscosity and enhancement of mechanical properties of polymer products. Theory analysis experimental data reveal many parameters, such as fiber diameter, threshold voltage, fiber strength, are related to the polymer viscosity. The paper has dual aims, one is to produce finer nanofibers under lower applied voltage by vibration technology, the other is to reduce the applied voltage to increase the fiber strength. The paper draws attention to possible of spinning fibers with lower threshold voltage and higher mechanical strength.

用DSC手段考察了反应釜内原位共聚制备的含有成核剂及纳米碳酸钙的聚丙烯(PP)共聚物的非等温结晶行为。结果表明,成核剂使PP共聚物的结晶温度升高,结晶度降低,结晶速率略有提高。而纳米碳酸钙则大幅提高了PP共聚物的结晶温度和结晶速率,结晶度也增加了约1O%。并采用Ozawa法和Caze法描述了非等温结晶动力学。
