The determination of the interierence fringe order in the split-beam liquid crystal display cell gap meter

In the split-beam method, accurate measurement of the liquid crystal display cell gap requires determining the interierence fringe order correctly. One method to determine the orders is the so-called intensity method in which the brightest fringe is determined to be the zeroth order. Using this method, the measurement accuracy may be affected by random noise. The color method in which the orcier of the fringes is determined according to their colors is presented. It is easy to get much better measurement accuracy by using the new method.
