封东来,男,1972年10月生。中国科学技术大学本科(1994)、硕士(1996),美国 Stanford大学博士(2001)。加拿大UBC大学博士后(2001.10-2004.3)。研究工作主要涉及利用角分辨光电子能谱,x-射线共振散射与非弹性散射以及其他各种同步辐射实验技术、表面分析手段和输运性质测量手段对强关联体系的电子结构,各种有序相的性质进行研究。在高温超导的电子结构,低维体系中的电荷密度波、轨道有序和超导电性方面做过比较系统的工作。 迄今发表论文30余篇(包括Science 3篇, Nature 1篇, Nature Physics 1篇,Phys. Rev. Lett. 11篇),被引用1730余次。在美国物理学会March Meeting(01年)、国际高温超导材料和机理系列大会(03, 06年)、国际新超导的谱学系列大会(04,07年)等重要国际会议上做过十余个邀请报告,以及多个国内学术会议邀请报告。2005年获联合国教科文组织Javed Husain青年科学家奖,复旦大学校长奖,2006年获中国青年科技奖。 现为复旦大学物理系和应用表面国家重点实验室教授、博士生导师,复旦大学先进材料实验室微纳电子部副主任。中国科学技术大学兼职教授。

We report a high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopic study of the electron-doped (n-type) cuprate superconductor Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4. We observe regions along the Fermi surface where the near-EF intensity is suppressed and the spectral features are broad in a manner reminiscent of the high-energy “pseudogap” in the underdoped p-type (hole doped) cuprates. However, instead of occurring near the (π,0) region, as in the p-type materials, this pseudogap falls near the intersection of the underlying Fermi surface with the antiferromagnetic Brillouin zone boundary.

The electronic structure of heavily overdoped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ is investigated by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The long-sought bilayer band splitting in this two-plane system is observed in both normal and superconducting states, which qualitatively agrees with the bilayer Hubbard model calculations. The maximum bilayer energy splitting is about 88 meV for the normal state feature, while it is only about 20 meV for the superconducting peak.

We present an angle-resolved photoemission doping dependence study of the n-type cuprate superconductor Nd2-xCexCuO4±δ, from the half-filled Mott insulator to the Tc=24 K superconductor. In Nd2CuO4, we reveal the charge-transfer band for the first time. As electrons are doped into the system, this feature's intensity decreases with the concomitant formation of near-EF spectral weight. At low doping, the Fermi surface is an electron-pocket (with volume~x) centered at [π,0]. Further doping leads to the creation of a new holelike Fermi surface (volume~1+x) centered at [π,π]. These findings shed light on the Mott gap, its doping evolution, as well as the anomalous transport properties of the n-type cuprates.

We report on resonant inelastic x-ray scattering studies of a one-dimensional quantum spin system Sr2CuO3. Data were taken at the Cu 1s→3d edge, which is expected to provide dd excitation spectra. The energy loss spectra show the lowest peak near 2.0 eV, smaller by≈0.6 eV than the lowest energy peak obtained at the 1s→4p edge. The feature has a total dispersion of about 0.2 eV with a periodicity of. While a comparison with optical measurements supports the interpretation of the data as being from dd excitations, the dispersion is apparently incompatible with theoretical results.

We examine the effect on the superconducting transition temperature (Tc) of chemical inhomogeneities in Bi2Sr2CuO6+δ and Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ single crystals. Cation disorder at the Sr crystallographic site is inherent in these materials and strongly affects the value of Tc. Partial substitution of Sr by Ln(Ln=La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, and Bi) in Bi2Sr1.6Ln0.4CuO6+δ results in a monotonic decrease of Tc with increasing ionic radius mismatch. By minimizing Sr site disorder at the expense of Ca site disorder, we demonstrate that the Tc of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ can be increased to 96 K. Based on these results we discuss the effects of chemical inhomogeneity in other bulk high-temperature superconductors.

Based on angle resolved photoemission spectra measured on different systems at different dopings, momenta, and photon energies, we show that the anomalously large spectral linewidth in the (p,0) region of optimal doped and underdoped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ has significant contributions from the bilayer band splitting, and that the scattering rate in this region is considerably smaller than previously estimated. This picture of the electronic excitation near (p,0) puts additional experimental constraints on various microscopic theories and data analyses.

The low-energy electronic structure of the nearly optimally doped trilayer cuprate superconductor Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+δ is investigated by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The normal state quasiparticle dispersion and Fermi surface and the superconducting d-wave gap and coherence peak are observed and compared with those of single- and bilayer systems. We find that both the superconducting gap magnitude and the relative coherence-peak intensity scale linearly with Tc for various optimally doped materials.

In the present photoemission study of a cuprate superconductor Bi1.74Pb0.38Sr1.88CuO6+δ, we discovered a large scale dispersion of the lowest band, which unexpectedly follows the band structure calculation very well. Similar behavior observed in blue bronze and the Mott insulator Ca2CuO2Cl2 suggests that the origin of hopping-dominated dispersion in an overdoped cuprate might be quite complicated. A giant kink in the dispersion is observed, and the complete self-energy containing all interaction information is extracted for a doped cuprate. These results recovered significant missing pieces in our current understanding of the electronic structure of cuprates.

We discuss the puzzles surrounding the interpretation of the 1/8 anomaly in cuprates, highlighting the tension between the real and reciprocal space ways to look at the problem. This issue is relevant to the current discussion on the nature of charge ordering in the form of ‘stripe' and ‘checker-board' as derived from neutron and STM experiments. A resolution of this tension is important to fully understand the electronic structure.
