黄尚廉院士,1954年毕业于重庆大学机械工程系,留校任助教,1960年受聘为讲师,1978年受聘为副教授,1983年受聘为教授。1987-1988年在英国Strathclyde University作为高级访问学者从事光纤技术的研究。曾先后任重庆大学光电仪器系主任,光电精密机械研究所所长,国家教委光电技术及系统开放实验室主任。兼任国务院学位委员会光学工程、仪器科学与技术学科评议组召集人,中国仪器仪表学会,中国计量测试学会,中国光学学会常务理事,及国际测量与仪器学会理事,重庆市科技顾问团副团长,重庆市信息化专家咨询组副组长,重庆市光电产业专家组组长等。
他长期从事光电精密仪器及机械、光电技术与系统的研究: 在计量光栅的理论、技术及应用诸方面,取得了多项国际领先的创新成果;文字图像处理研究达国际先进水平,并获得大规模应用;在光纤传感技术与通信领域,取得了一系列重要成果;开创了智能结构系统研究新领域, 在结构健康监测、结构主动控制两大分支的理论与技术上取得了重大进展与成果。已获成果21项,其中国家科技进步成果二、三等奖各1项,部省级奖15项,国家发明专利3项,共发表论文280余篇,主持召开国际会议3次、国内会议多次。目前已培养博士后11名、博士42名、硕士34名。
以黄尚廉教授为首开辟和创建的重庆大学光电工程学院,已经建设成国家重点学科、211重点建设学科、教育部重点实验室、重庆光电工程研究中心,拥有仪器科学与技术、光学工程两个一级学科博士授权点及两个博士后流动站、五个二级学科博士点和七个硕士点,以及三个本科专业,并在光纤传感与通信,智能结构系统,光电集成传感技术,微光机电系统,文字图像识别技术及系统,智能化光电仪器及机械等研究方向上,为国家现代化建设解决了一些重大理论和技术难题,获得了一批重大科技成果。
黄尚廉院士作为重庆市光电产业专家组组长,为重庆市光电产业的发展做出了重要贡献。多次主持国内、国际学术会议并作大会特邀报告,对光电科技及智能结构领域的国内外学术交流与合作起了积极的推动作用。

根据牛顿流体模型和滨汉塑性流体模型,分别对混合工作模式的汽车磁流变减振器进行了理论分析研究。按照长安微型汽车的技术要求,设计和制作了汽车磁流变减振器,并对此进行了试验测试。试验结果表明,应用所提出的理论分析模型是可行的,对设计特殊阻尼特性的磁流变减振器有一定的指导意义。

从多光束干涉的基本原理出发,分析了光源光谱对光纤法布里珀罗应变传感系统的影响。通过分析发现光源光谱的高斯分布会使光纤法布里珀罗应变传感系统产生测量误差,并从理论上推导出了这种误差的计算公式;通过计算机仿真发现光源的影响使应变测量结果出现了连续周期性的跳变,并通过实验验证了这种变化规律。

For cable-stayed bridges, cable tension and its variation are two of the most important factors for judging whether the bridges are functional or not. Therefore, the in-situ monitoring of the stayed cables' tension of the cable-stayed bridge is very important and necessary, from which we can determine the health of the bridge. However, how to acquire and retrieve the signal is the key problem to determine whether the method is suitable for in-situ monitoring of the cable tension of cable-stayed bridges. In this paper, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) piezoelectric films are used as the sensors to acquire the dynamic responses of the stayed cables, from which the tension of the stayed cables can be determined. Signal retrieval from the PVDF film sensors via wireless transmission technology is developed, which could be used for the wireless in-situ monitoring of the cable tension. The principles, feasibility, and configuration of the wireless system for monitoring the stayed cable tension of cable-stayed bridges are investigated. Also the validating experiment is performed on a smallscale stayed cable model in the laboratory. Results show that the proposed wireless monitoring system is feasible for the in-situ monitoring of the stayed cable tension. The method and transmission system can be applied to wireless health monitoring of civil infrastructures with various sensors.

Shape memory alloys (SMAs) are composed of austenite and martensite and the volume fraction of each phase evolves during thermomechanical loading histories. The constitutive behavior of a SMA is substantially the combination of the individual behavior of each of the two phases. Based on mixture theory, a two-phase mixture constitutive model is proposed, in which the behavior of the austenite is assumed to be linearly elastic while that of the martensite is elastoplastic. The pseudoelastic behavior of a Cu-Al-Zn-Mn polycrystal subjected to proportional and complex stress or strain histories is analysed, and the main features are well replicated. The proposed model is physically distinct, simple and can easily be applied in practical engineering problems.

The stayed cables of cable-stayed bridges are the main load-bearing components. The cable tension and its variation are two of the most important criteria for judging if a cable-stayed bridge is in order. Through monitoring the cable tension and its variation, the overall technical condition of a cable-stayed bridge can be estimated and whether the cable socket system and protecting system are functional and whether the steel wires in the stayed cables are rusted can be checked. In this paper the frequency analysis method for in situ measuring of cable tension with polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) piezoelectric films is put forward. The relationship between the cable sag and the cable tension is explored and the disadvantages of the traditional measuring method of cable tension with frequency analysis are also represented, as are the explicit error equation and its compensation methods. The simultaneous experimental results on a stayed-cable model and the comparison results measured with the accelerometer are presented.

具有仿人智能功能与生命特征的土建结构是人类长期的梦想,由于信息、材料与工程科技的进步,这一梦想可能变为现实。本文提出了智能结构系统的概念和定义,强调了它在减灾防灾中的重大意义与作用。概述了土建结构健康监测与结构响应控制的研究动向。简要介绍了重庆大学在这一领域中的研究工作,并提出了"十五"期间应当研究的主要课题。

Piezoelectric ceramics are good candidate materials for sensor and aetuator applications, because of its ability to convert mechanical energy to electrical energy and vice versa. The response speed of Electro-mechanical converting signal in piezoelectric transducers is up to a few hundreds kilohertz, Therefore. they are widely used in vibration and acoustic system. In these applications, the nonlinearity of the materials is a main factor to consider when one designs the control system. In this paper, the nonlinearity of electro-mechanival conpling of PbZrxTi(1-x) O3 was investigated. Experimental results showed that the piezoelectric properties of PZT are greatly affected by the sequence and the amplitude of the applied voltage.
