Nanocrystalline europium-doped tine oxide (SnO2: Eu) were synthesized by a polyacrylamide gel method. The effects of heat treatment on structure, grain size and luminescence properties of SnO2: Eu were studied with X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and photoluminescence measurements. The results indicate that high heat treatments can enhance greatly luminescence intensity of the samples. Furthermore, the presence of carbon network/cages in the polyacrylamide gel can effectively prevent particles agglomeration,so even when sintered at higher temperatures (1000℃), the grain size is still below 20 nm.

A novel coordination polymer with three-dimensional network, [Nd (C7H6N02) 3-H2O] n, has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction of the single-crystal, IR and UV-vis-NIR spectra as well as by the measurement of the magnetic susceptibility.The polymer crystallizes in the monoclinic, space group P2 (1)/n with a=9.8069 (5)Å, b=22.736 (2)Å, c=9.8254 (8)Å, β=100.053 (5)º, V=2157.1 (3) Å3, Z=4,and R (Rw) =0.038(0.0924). Cryomagnetic investigations (4.5-300K) reveal that the polymer possesses weak antiferromagnetic property.

In C2H5OH and H2O as solvent, Ni (NO3) 2·6H2O, imidazole and phenanthroline (phen) acting as starting materials,the binuclear complex [Ni2 (im) (phen) 4]·(NO3) 3·3H2O was synthesized. Its structure has been studied by X-ray diffraction. The complex crystallizes in triclinic, space group P-1 with a=13.294 (5) Å, b=13.723 (5) Å, c=16.823 (2) Å, α=89.67 (2), b=69.11 (13), g=63.43 (3), V=2520.8 (13)Å 3 and Z=2.The structure consists of the dimeric [Ni2 (im) (phen) 4] 3+ ion with the imidazolate ion bridging the two Ni (phen) 2 moieties. The lattice contains three water molecules and three nitrate anions.Each Ni (II) ion is five-coordinate, and the coordination geometry is distortional square pyramid. Cryomagnetic investigations (4.5-300 K) reveal an antiferromagnetic coupling between two Ni (II) ions in the complex with J=-30.43 cm-1, g=1.98. The UV-Vis-NIR and IR spectra of the complex were determined and assigned.
